Title: RSS Feeds
Post by: bas123 on April 13, 2008, 03:38:50 AM
I've recently installed SMF v1.14 with TinyPortal 1.052 using a theme by Bloc (Tolkien)

In a new RSS block, I inputted a feed from a Motorcycle News Site... using the URL:

http://news.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/blog.rss

This works beautifully with Display only titles? both Yes & no.

They're output for full feed (titles=no) is too long for my taste, so I've chosen titles only.

Unfortunately, the links point to the parent browser...

Is it possible to redirect the visitor to a "_new" or "_blank" browser?

Secondly, it appears that TinyPortal (or possibly SMF) has built-in support for RSS.

How so I make this available? - Is there a setting in Admin or do I need to modify some code somewhere (or add a mod)?

Thanks   :-\

Is there anyone that had answers for this? Maybe even a link to another thread?

TP support RSS if you use the rss blocks yes.

However, it just render the rss feeds you add in the block, you cant do anything with the rss but show what it fetched from the rss feed link.

There are a few rss converters you can use but you have to google on that as we dont have anything of that kind on this site.

It would seem as though RSS feeds that end in *.rss work fine, but *.xml do not?

Is that right?

I can get a CNN feed to work just fine that ends in *.rss, but none of the Digg feeds that end in *.xml seem to load or update as new items are added throughout the day.
