Title: TP105: error after adding the 1st new article after upgrade
Post by: tupsi on April 07, 2008, 11:32:56 AM
OK what I did:

copied my working smf1.4 database
installed full and upgrade smf1.4 zips into a fresh directory.
copied Settings.php and modified it for new path and new db.
did the upgrade steps in smf, removed install and upgrade files afterwards.
installed tp105beta via package manager.
installed itemstats package in smf.

ok then I had a nice working copy of tb105 with a copy of my forum. Portal page looked fine as in every article which was on the live site was also here on the new portal site.

Then I added another article (was curious of the new bbcode would also show the [item] from the itemstats package) and bam got this error after saving the article and visiting the front page:

Quote
The article isn't active, hasn't been approved yet, or simply does not exist.

strange thing though is that I can access every article ever saved if I use the correct url. I progged a small block in the past showing articles from a specefic category and if you click there, you can access every single article just fine.

OK I am messy in explaining bugs, so just have a look for yourself:

http://www.fraternitas-ferreus.net/tp/index.php

is the front page with the error. On the right side you see a block called "News Archive" with direct links to single articles, they all work fine.

So it seems instead of showing me the latest 5 articles on the front page as usual it tries to show some article which is not supposed to be on the front page and results in the error?

Let me get this straight, you made a complete upgrade on a test site and them moved everything to the live site with the old database connected to it ?

Try and run the manual_tp_install.php from your browser and check if it works after that

I never mentioned anything about moving it back to the live site. The link above is the test site.

Live is unaffected and still running 0.98

http://www.fraternitas-ferreus.net/forum2/index.php

both stuff is completly seperated, each has its own database and directory structure.

accessing the front page also leaves the following error in the forum error log:

Quote
8: Undefined index: upshrinkpanel
File: /.........../tp/Themes/default/Errors.template.php (tp_above sub template - eval?)
Line: 129

no clue if this is related or not.

a little more testing revealed:

I get the error to disappear if I set any article to "featured". That one gets displayed afterwards, but not anything else. Admin settings I have a 5 in the respective setting, so the last 5 articles should always be displayed.

If I remove the "featured" flag the error returns.

Will report this in the team board, i have tried to check another site with similar issues, but blocks instead of articles, for some strange reason, the blocks and articles doesent seem to play well with the new TP, it does not update so they can be changed.

I managed to disable articles by clicking on the green icon in the article overview in the admin section. BUT I cant switch them on again by clicking on the red icon. Although the icon changes from red to green, after a reload of the page the article is marked inactive again (and yes I pressed the save button at the bottom of the screen).

If I enter the article to edit and switch the radio button there from inactive to active, this gets saved. Afterwards its shining green again on the overview.

All the meddeling did not cast away my first error described up sadly.

Ive also got an issue with articles  :'( none are showing on TPM no matter what I do, don't know if it has anything to do with changing from friendly urls to off setting on that will update when i know more.

Articles have to be categorized in order for them to show :)

check if you can access them like I still can on my installation, just add

?page=48

with the number being the article ID to you starting page.

It sounds like a mix of several things, but I will check why this happens.
