Post by: nickawompus on April 06, 2008, 01:28:11 PM
Hi,
I'm getting the error below trying to install TP.
Should I try manual install or is the prob with the themes index.template.php?
What should I do 1st.

Thanks for any help

Thank you for posting up the list according to our posting guide, but you missed the search part in there ;)

A search on your error will show you to posts telling you to manually add the files to your index.template.php according to the modinstruction in our docsection.

Thanks for your help. All went well except.....
In admin there are no links for tinyportal.

Back to square 1?
Or what to search for?

see screenshot

I would guess you can not see it because you are not using the default theme.

As said above....

QuoteA search on your error will show you to posts telling you to manually add the files to your index.template.php according to the modinstruction in our docsection.

You will have to manually add the files.

TP V1.0.5 doesent have any utf8 language files added to the package, so you have to change the encoding to regular english in your Admin/Configuration/Server Settings

I will make the TP Language strings to UTF8 some time to day when i have woke up a bit more  :buck2:

Thanks for the replies.

I used the 0.9.8 manual install.
My server settings are set to English already.
I'll go over all the SMF changed files again to make sure no typos.
I did get the welcome screen saying that all went well etc. etc.
Just can't admin, plus all the TP images don't show up.  I uploaded all files keeping the directory structure.
Thanks again,
Steve

Update:
Got everything working except......
The blocks don't show. I've checked all permissions like the FAQ said.
The problem I think is that I had previousely deleted the babylon theme. All the files are still there on the server though. I checked my smf_themes table on my database and there are no rows for the babylon theme. So when you delete a theme in SMF it only removes any reference to it in your smf_themes table?

Question: Could this be why the blocks don't show. Does TP need the babylon theme to work?

I set up a clean install of SMF 1.1.4 and TP and 0.9.8 and all is good with the babylon theme in it.

Why messing with other themes ?
Make sure everything is working in the Default CORE theme, then worrie about the other themes you want
