Title: Article length
Post by: weiyifei on March 12, 2008, 07:59:16 AM
I'm trying to post an article on my site, but the end keeps getting cut off.  After looking at older posts on this forum, the answer seems to be a matter of changing 'text' in the 'body' column to 'longtext' or 'midtext'.  However, I do not know where to find this body or text script, nor do I know how to go about changing it.

Could someone please give me the step-by-step on making this change?

You change the setting in your SQL database.

Open your SQL with phpmyadmin and find the table data type on the body row of the tp_articles table Change it from text to longtext
Offcourse you make a backup before you make any changes to your DB  :)

What is my SQL database?  What is phpmyadmin?  Do I access these through my site?

Im sorry, but that part you need to read back on for your self om simplemachines.org.
We can point you in the correct direction, but you really need to learn the basics to be able to run your forum.

Om simplemachines.org in their documentation section, you have about everything you will need to learn the basics about database, SQL, tables, and FTP Cpanel and a whole lot more.
