Hi all,
I'm trying to resolve an issue I'm having installing TP_0983.zip as a package from within a new vanilla SMF 1.1.4 install.
Apply Mod works with zero errors however when I go to install I get the following error.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Database Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
File:
/home/content/b/a/c/bacus/html/paffle/Sources/Subs-Package.php
Line: 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------
Line 2008 = "AND variable = 'theme_dir'", __FILE__, __LINE__);"
This is regardless of a version 4 or version 5 database I get the error. I don't believe there are any file or directory permission problems.
As i say I'm trying to assist the hosting company work out what is the issue so they can resolve it. I look into the package and see CREATE, DESCRIBE, ALTER TABLE etc.
Now I don't know MySQL, but are there any settings which would stop the TP install writing to the database?
I know there is a Manual install, but let's face it an auto install is what is preferred.
Can anyone shine some light?
Thanks.
Your host should be able to tell you why you're losing the connection. I've never had a problem with the install or manual install.
SMF 1.1.4
I get this very similar error.
Database Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
File: *edit*/smf/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 2933
I'm not sure as to what the problem is. I do have other mods on there and some I just can't remove and put back at the moment so I have to try it with them. But I don't have any SQL connection issues that I know of with my forum and nothing is in the error log.
I get this every time I hit Apply Mod.
You guys try the manual install?
Quix seems like he really didn't want to but I just got home and haven't had a chance to do it yet. I know I won't have a problem with the manual install (I've done it a few times before), just thought I would let you know I had the same issue as what he had when I tried to do it the easy way earlier today.

FYI
"Thank you for contacting Online Support.
We appreciate the information that you have provided. After further
review, we have determined that there are no issues with your hosting account. When testing the connections for your database, there is a successful connection. It appears that the error you are receiving is a scripting issue. Unfortunately, we do not provide coding or scripting support for third party applications. I recommend performing a search on a search engine for more information or contact the manufacturer of the application directly. We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter.
Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way."
OK I'll give a manual install a go. Not so sure I won't blow it up. lol

you said you did this with a "vanilla" install.. is that a clean install with no other mods?? mmm no you have other mods there too.. since this appears not to be a active forum that you are building, my suggestion is that you un install all of your mods then add the "big" mods like tp, gallery, arcade, then work your way down to the little ones.. if you just add willy nilly, of course you are going to get errors.. try it the way i am saying and see if that wont help you out.. ;)

Hi IchBin, yes I just did a manual install. Seems to work fine. Not as scary as I'd imagined. :-)
Ok you can all stop laughing now!:p
Smoky, I think you need to read who posted what and where. The post that you quoted clearly states I have mods, Quix said Vanilla install. I think I can handle a manual install I've done it before... ;) Anyways, Area191 is not the site that I was talking about. But as my second post states I have installed manually before and it worked fine for me this time as well.
More than anything, I was just curious as to why it was saying it lost connection to the database.
Thanks for responding so quickly, Ichbin!
glad you got it done blackey. good job :D

Yeah I'm the same. I'd like to know why it fails in the first place?
Lost Connection during query occurs when the MySQL connection breaks in between.
This mostly happens on servers not on localhost or overloaded MySQL server, and GoDaddy is pretty well known for this.
Well the only reason for a "lost connection" is because something is happening on the Server. Your host doesn't know what they are talking about as the install works for Thousands of people.
