Let see... don't flame you, but you haven't followed the posting guidelines... AGAIN! Get your behind in gear and give us a little more information than the 8 word 2 sentence post you just did...
I installed a forum. I installed it fresh. Then Tiny Portal. Then Installed a theme, and switched it. Default worked fine. This did not show the forum Icon When I switched it to the newly installed theme
fat4l 3rror, at some point you really need to actually read the posting guide lines... please. ;)
The Alienation theme that you installed, is it the TP version?
Use the download link at the bottom of the page, not the download button.
The file will have alienation11final_tp.zip at its name.
I am soo sorry. I forget the smallest things. please forgive me!
All is forgiven this time, but if you do it again the wrath of the purple people eater will be upon you! ;)
But when I try to edit it. and look for the Part that i should be editing( I find it by hitting CTRL F and then typing in what i need to find) it says it cant find it. so how do i edit waht is not there?
Did you read Kens reply?

Yep
So Can you answer it?
Actually I looked at his site later last night and the alienation theme was working correctly so that problem seems to be solved.
So, I take this to be a whole new question... right fat4l 3rror???
With that in mind, I for one am not going to help you any more until you stop playing games and post your question in a coherent manner so that we can understand what you are asking. ;)
nice support crew.
fat4l 3rror.. thank you.. ya know, these people here, they help for nothing other than to help.. least you can do is help them help you.. what?? you think this is wrong?? ok.. well no one will force you to use this.. no one is forcing you to reply, now put this in a pipe a smoke it..
im not flaming, im not belittling, but you catch more flys with honey than vinegar.. or didnt someone teach you that?
maybe you could start off on a new type of attitude and doors around here will open.. common curtesy..
/me goes offline now.. shaking her head..
I can reword it one more time.
I read the Modding Instructions on how to install a mod on a TP theme. When I opened up the index.template for the TP THEME it said "look for this line of text" and even when it hit CTRL+F to find it, It says the text could not be found. I
If the text isnt there. How do I replace it?
fat4l 3rror, below is a quote of a message that I sometime post in response to questions about file edits... it's being posted now mainly because of the link to the NotePad++ editor.
You haven't said which one you use, but if you don't have a good one you should get one because it makes all of the edits lots easier. NotePad++ is free and works with many of the coding languages.
It's the one I use because to me the "find/search" feature works so good.
As for doing the edits and finding the lines of code...as you may know, some files have names that are similar so the first thing is to be very careful to look at the correct file.
And trust me, the instructions are right, you just have to take your time and read carefully. ;)
QuoteDoing a manual install of TinyPortal is easy to do, you just need to follow the directions found in the Manual Install File Modifications Guide. (http://www.tinyportal.familjegodis.se/index.php?topic=4.0)
Take your time and read carefully as you go and it will work well.
Here's how to safely do file edits:
FileZilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/)
One of the better ftp utilities and it's free.
It's the only one I use.
And you'll need a good editor, here is a nice free one:
Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm)
Any time you do anything to your forum there is one thing that you should make part of your routine, like:
Backup... Backup... Backup!
When editing a file I generally do this;
Make a temp folder on my desktop...
Open the site with the FileZilla FTP utility...
Download a copy of the file in question and place it in the temp folder...
Then download a fresh copy into my editor and edit away...
Go back to the site and rename the existing online copy of the file to something else, like, old_filename.php...
Then upload the edited version of the file.
When doing several files I wait until all of them have been edited so that they can all be uploaded at the same time.
If everything is OK then I'm finished.
If its all messed up I just delete the bad file that was uploaded, rename the good one to the correct file name and the forum is back to normal.

This is a common issue, since themes can be very different in how they are coded. You will need to look at the code and decide where things should go, if the exact line(s) isn't there.
