Hello as I;m new to tiny portal I have tryed to install it on my local instance of my smf.1.1.4
in XAMPP for Windows Version 1.6.4 !
everything seems to be Ok but I can not see any new articles on the front page.
I have done al the necessary actions to publish them ( I think)
when I click on "preview article" I get the folwing error
QuoteAn Error Has Occurred!
The article isn't active, hasn't been approved yet, or simply does not exist.
I attach a screen shot of the settigns
Your article must be set to active, go to your Manage Articles screen and look for the Red and Green dots... you can also set it to active by going to the bottom of the article and checking active in the article status.
EDIT: The article must also be set to show on your front page for it to do so.
EDIT #2: You do know that your screen shot is of your block management panel and not of your article panel???
Thank you for the fast reply ,
I have done all these but it still gives the same error
I can not even see the demo articles
See my edit #2 in the previous post... lets make sure we are talking about articles and not blocks.
The demo articles should not be used, turn them off and make new ones for your content.
Ok Ithin kthis is waht I did wrong!
I was updating the old demo articles. just to see.
now I get a front page article but the link to the forum is not showing anymore....
I'll keep trying
Thank you very much!!
Glad you are making progress.
Just to be sure that we are clear:
There is a big difference between blocks and articles and while its true that either one can sometimes be used to do a similar function they must be treated differently... for one thing there is a separate control panel for each.
As for your forum link not showing, don't know why it would not do that if it shows normally without the article... maybe another Team member will have a better answer because some of them are running XAMPP style installs.
Hello again !,
The problem with the forum link was that I was using a custom theme that I had modified when I run my forum with no TP .
What are the changes that I need to make in the custom theme in order to be able to run with tc?
In the custom theme the expandable (+ -) do not show so the blocks do not apear either.
I have been playing with TP localy on xampp for the last couple of days.
It looks Ok for the beginning but I'm not yet convinced to use it in my live forum site.
Is there a possiblility to have my articles in a multilingual option?
I have the translations I just want my members AND guests to be able to choose their language even if they are not logged in.
The changes you need to make are posted in the Docs board here under the title mod instructions.
As for language articles I've never seen any CMS that displays articles like that based on the language selected. TP does not have this option. You could do it with some PHP code though, but that would mean your articles would all have to be the PHP type.
I have been using joomla for the last couple of years and it does support multiple language selection for content, modules, blocks even menu items etc.
The reason why I m trying TC is that smfbridge is not more supported for the new versions of Joomla so I'm hopping to move in to TC .
If not I'll try and use my joomla cms with smf as two different instances.
Now Ill try and see the mod instructions.
Thank you for your fast and kind support !!
Actually, I meant to say Portal. But CMS yes, I've seen them do the language option. It could very easily be achieved I'm sure. But I don't think this option will be in TP for a while.
