I have a question that I just got to thinking of..
is it possible, since SMF with the "mod" TP, to merge it with a full blown cms? and that would give me an extra forum to spread my stuff out.. I am just curious.. ;)
It should be unless TP's modifications conflicts with the CMS.
anyone ever do this and what cms was used? :P
There is no point in discussing this as SMF is SMF and TP is TP.
SMF has their policys and copywrites to their fiole system so we are not allowed to even pack them together as one package.

If you are thinking to bridge SMF+TP to another CMS, yes of course. Already bridges to Joomla and several others exists. The way TP works is inside SMF, so if you bring along SMF into another CMS, TP will just tag along. :)
As for making TP independant of SMF, that is very unlikely to happen, the initial goal was to extend SMF and that hasn't changed. I know other portals/mods have indeed spread their wings lol..like MKPortal for example - but I see no point of taking on other scripts. VBulletin, IPB, PhpBB..they all have their "portals" already, and it would take large amounts of time to transport what TP does for SMF, onto other scripts.

Im not sure what I want to do yet, this is why I am asking if it is possible, "with tp included" and if it has been done. The reason I am asking is I wish to:
#1) Broaden my site and what I have on it and allow people not to fell so "compacted", without using a mod for say, multi-forum boards. I do not wish to tack on more mods to my site. The more mods just slows down adding new themes. ;)
#2) To learn more about what I am capable of, and what I need assistance on. I have come a long way from that noob I was when I first got here. I want to go further.
#3) To make me happy. simple question so that I know what I can do with the tp added onto my site, without making a huge mess of things and destroying what I have done up to this point, and perhaps learn more about designing and coding.

I realize that this could have been asked on smf, but i would have been sent back here, as I have tp on my site. :D but i am just wondering for now.. the one that I am messing with currently does have a forum plug-in, and im curious if i merge the 2, will i have 2 forums?? lol.. guess its almost time to go virtual and find out.. I will let everyone here know what I decide and how I am doing it, if that is ok?? I can see a bunch of possibilities with this, and im hoping that it wont interfer with my tp and stuff.. so if anyone has done this, let me know?? this may take me a few days if not a week, as i'd love to get a decent theme on this project, cuz the one now, its just totally not wanted!! thanks again..
