Hi,
we installed tinyportal today and I was working on the homepage, then I stopped went and looked at it,
then went to the arcade and was playing a game, my other admin came in and said the homepage is gone?
I went and looked and the contents that were in the homepage were gone the homepage it self was still there
but the contents are missing and also the edit option to get into the homepage is gone as well... any suggestions on how to get it back ? and what has happened to it ?
thanks reign
the docs area could help you :)
I havent got problems with missing text in the admin settings of tinyportal, it's in the homepage itself and the edit option on the homepage itself is missing , I created the homepage and for some reason the contents suddenly just disappeared along with the edit option you click to get back in to edit. I had put pictures and an intro. thanks reign
Please follow the posting guide, and if you could, add more info to your site, the theme your are using, all that you have done so far. I can't tell by just reading. ;)
Is this the original article that came with tp on the install or did you create a new one. The articles that come with tp can be buggy sometimes. I would suggest deleting the ones that came with tp and create new ones and that should fix any problems you may have with the articles. If this was a new articles please post more info on what you have done so far.
The only thing i edited was the welcome article, I've deleted the article that came with the homepage, I then added my own intro, and a picture and saved it, It was there, I left came back and everything I had added was gone off the homepage, including the edit option, then I got back in there through article manager, and everything I had applied on the homepage was there as if it had never left, so I
saved again, and it still would not apply ?
thanks reign
Look in the admin panel in the article manager. It it pretty self explanatory from there. If you get stuck look in the docs section or do a search and you can find more info there. Good luck. Tick
I've deleted the article that came with the TP, then created my own article, and edited it, clicked save, and it still doesnt apply to the home screen.
thanks reign
Do you have that article set to show on the frontpage. ALso look in the tp settings on the frontpage tab. What do you have to show up on the frontpage
The thing is it was showing on the homepage, then I left the homepage after I had made sure It was the way I had wanted it, I even had my other admin look at it to, before I left, we both had saw it, then left, when we returned about ten minutes later maybe sooner, it was gone from the homepage along with the edit option?
thanks reign
If you would like send me a pm with a temp login for a admin account and the url to the site. I will look at it for you if you like. ALso the article name.
done ... thanks reign
Ok this is fixed. The problem was you had your frontpage set to show featured articles. You did not have any articles set as featured. It is fixed now.
Very nice theme btw
thank you so much, please explain how you did it, so I may learn, also can you explain just what it was I did wrong ? opps just I just read your answer above, thank you so much again ! thanks reign :)

If you look in your article manager you will see a link beside each article that says set as featured. If you have the frontpage settings set to show the featured article you have to have one set as featured for one to show up. Hope this helps. Tick.
ALso I think the reason the first one disappeared is because of the buggy articles issue I first mentioned.
so if I am understanding this correctly only one can be on and set as featured at a time? The other two should be turned off ? The other two are visual options , what are they for ?
Thanks reign
Yes it will only allow you to have one set as featured. If you click on one as featured then it turns the other one off
ok I'm deffinately doing something wrong, either that or there is something wrong with the banner i have put in there, because I've just deleted the other things that were on the page and applied my new banner, clicked save and i'm back where I started again, the article doesn't show and the edit button is gone again? and you have just set the page ? thanks reign
I tried to look but the info you previously sent to me does not work anymore.
retry i just reapplied it for you .. thanks reign
It should be working. The article you had seemed to act just the way the stock articles do when edited. I have deleted that old one and created a new one. It should work properly for you now. Let me know if it does not and I will look deeper
Edit: I am off to bed so I may not see any new responses till tomorrow.
thank you so much and pleasant dreams :) thank you reign
