Title: Block On Front Page Only
Post by: gffb on January 17, 2008, 09:14:58 AM
Ok I have search and search and found this http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=15241.20

But this did not work and left me even more confused. What I want is a block to only show on the front page, I dont use articles so the fix for creating an article and only showing that block in a certain article will not work, if there any other way round this for the moment to only have a certain block show on the front page only.

I have search for Ichbin's post on this but cant find it.....?

This is the code I need in the block to only show on front page
<center><object width="300" height="200" align="middle" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.*****.net/plusxl30/mp3player.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" />
<param name="flashvars" value="config=http://www.*****.net/plusxl30/config.xml&amp;file=http://www.*****.net/plusxl30/playlist.xml" />            <embed width="150" height="200" align="middle" src="http://www.*****.net/plusxl30/mp3player.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" name="mp3player" flashvars="config=http://www.*****.net/plusxl30/config.xml&amp;file=http://www.*****.net/plusxl30/playlist.xml" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" menu="false"></embed></object></center>

Did you try 'Front Page' blocks to see if that fits your needs?

With one of those and the front page settings you may be able to get to where you want to be.

You should be able to add a front-page block using the "BBC/HTML" option; once you have the editor displayed on the screen, click the button labeled 'Source' at the top of the editor. Delete the '- no content -' message and paste your code into the editor. Save and position the block on your page as you wish.

Just be sure to turn the block ON so that it displays.

Hope that helps...  8)

With 85 posts, I would assume the OP is quite proficient in using the blocks system. And posting a hack suggests that the OP is talking about the left/right blocks, rather than a center/front block.

TP 1 will have the options to use Reverse Criteria on all blocks.

Yes I should of said it was a left block that I only wanted to show on the front page.
Thanks for the reply ZTN, in the mean time do yuo or anyone else know where the hack/edit/work-around that has been mentioned by Ichbin to use some php code to make this happen till TP1.
