Hi everyone
I'm in disaster-ville :'( I hope it is okay to post this here (the solution might help others).
I decided to upgrade my SMF 1.1.3 with TP 0.9.8 (Amber theme) to SMF 1.1.4 today. This particular installation (the older of the two on my webspace) always needs a manual install. No problem - I've done quite a few manual updates to it over the last couple of years with few issues (and learnt lots along the way).
I backed up the entire SMF directory first and backed up the database as well. I then did the manual update and everything worked perfectly (or so it said). However, when I try to access the site all I get is the top quarter of any page - here is the link
http://www.post-polionetwork.org.au/smforum/
Where I think I went wrong was not changing to the default theme first :uglystupid2:
I can't access any part of the Forum or TP or the Admin section as all I can see is the top quarter of any page.
Any ideas on how I can recover from this disaster?

You probably don't have all the code edits done. Run through the manual install instructions and tripple check your code to be there. Right now you're getting an undefined function call because either some code is missing or your files need to be re-uploaded.
Hi IchBin
Many thanks for the speedy response :)
Don't the code edits refer to TP not SMF - I understood that upgrading to SMF 1.1.4 from 1.1.3 didn't touch TP? If you do mean SMF, I'm not sure where to find the code edits so I can check them.

How did you do the upgrade? Through the package manager or manual upgrade?
Hi IchBin
Package Manager didn't work (as usual) so I did a manual upgrade. I downloaded the Small Update file from this page at SMF (http://www.simplemachines.org/download/), unzipped it, uploaded all the files, ran upgrade.php, the upgrade completed without any errors ... now on accessing the site all I get is the top quarter of any page :'(

Thanks for the help - really appreciated :)

Well ... the answer was ...
The manual upgrade to SMF 1.1.4 replaced index.php in the main SMF directory and so the required references to TP were missing - rather significant omissions ;D
I edited the 1.1.4 index.php to re-insert the necessary lines (from the 1.1.3 backup I sensibly took before I started) and re-uploaded it.
Everything is now working as expected 8)
I hope my stupidity in not working out the problem immediately and posting here for help might help others in the future.
Thanks again to IchBin for telling me to go back and triple check files that I didn't realise at first had been altered during the manual upgrade.
Another lesson learned ;)
Cheers

Edit - see this thread for later posts on this issue (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=21033.msg171593#msg171593)
Thanks for posting the solution hun. I myself used to have to update phpBB boards we used to have --manually--for the auto upgrades never worked right.
I have gotten so spoiled with updates, installations and upgrades that work like they should that I totally forgot about checking the files for differences.
As an enduser/novice that still does some things manually I can't stress the fact to backup the files often, even if nothing has changed much and especially when updating. Upload the duplicate file keeping the original for reuploading in case the new one goes belly up.
Have a Happy New Year!
Thanks DarkAngel612 ... but I learned my next lesson today and proved once again that nothing is as simple as it seems ;D
Everything appeared to working on my site - well, it was as far as collapsing the left column and accessing articles that already existed etc. However, today I went into the Admin section to do something and found no sign of Tiny Portal :o That's when it struck me that more than the single file index.php had been replaced by my manual upgrade ::)
Thanks to this post (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=14195), I readily refreshed my memory regarding what other files I needed to compare and fix :)
Just in case I do it again :uglystupid2:, these are the files that Tiny Portal modifies (at the moment anyway - Version 0.9.8 ) -
index.php
Sources/Load.php
Themes/default/index.template.php
Themes/babylon/index.template.php
Sources/Subs.php
Sources/ManagePermissions.php
Sources/Security.php
Sources/Errors.php
Themes/default/style.css
Themes/default/Help.template.php
Sources/Profile.php
SSI.php
Happy New Year to all at Tiny Portal :)
Cheers

I splitted your post as the thread you posted in didnt hold the support questions.
If you search a bit, especially the sticky topics in installations board you will find the answer on why you cant see any TP admin text.
Hi G6
I realise that my last post was a bit "off topic" for the thread I posted it on, but I felt it was important to explain that what I thought I had fixed earlier (and posted the solution) was not the complete story. Now that you have split off my final post, my issue and its solution - as explained in my earlier posts on the original thread - is incomplete, and therefore a bit misleading :-\
Perhaps you could merge the remaining posts with this one (if you don't mind me suggesting this).
Otherwise, I'll just link to them here for anyone interested - start at this post

I have split at the posts you suggested, and merged them with the posts G6 split.
They should be in sequence, though I don't think it should be in News.
Move to Support?
Thanks ZTN :) This thread makes much more sense now (and having it in Support is better too, of course) ;)
I'll try not to create such a mess next time :knuppel2:
Happy New Year.
Cheers

oops, yup and then there are some themes that will need to have the tp files transferred into their folders also...been there done that too...no fun at times but still love the ease of this forum software and portal.
This portal is a thousand time easier to go into than mkportal for phpbb boards. All in italian and bablefish doesn't always tell it like it should...lol
thanks for posting results.
