Title: ShoutBox error after move
Post by: ukrob12 on December 25, 2007, 11:51:26 AM
I recently moved my site from a subdomain to a domain of it's own, and all seemed to be working fine. Redirection was set up so that any old links going to the old site would automatically be redirected to the coressponding page on the new site. As far as I can see the only error has been with TinyPortal. When I type a shout for instance and click to the post the following error comes up on a white screen:

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /index.php could not be found on this server.
Apache/2.2.6 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.6 OpenSSL/0.9.8b FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_jk/1.2.25 mod_bwlimited/1.4 Server at www.themuse.net

Any idea what's causing this?

Thanks!

Have you checked all the urls so they have changed and point to the new location ?
Use the repair_settings.php file from simplemachines.org if you are unsure.
Also make sure all the files we moved correctly.

The point I didn't actually have to move any of the files, the URL is just set up so going to TheMuse.net displays the same folder as previous. Everything else works fine, at the moment the only error I can find is the ShoutBox.

Then i can only think of your servers config and safe mode turned on.
If safe mod is turned on on your server it will not allow the url change du to "attempted" hack (some times the config really believe it is a hacking attempt with redirection of urls)
So more or less you have 2 things you have to do now.
1. Contact your host and ask them for help on the config and safe mode settings they have or
2. move all your files to the path you want the url to work from.

The error is an 406 error and if you google on 406 you will see what i mean in more detaild information.

OK, thank you. I'll work from that then.

Confused now.. I actually removed the redirection to see if that worked - it didn't.

Also if I go to "View Last 50 Shouts" or whatever, and then click to post on the ShoutBox from that box, it works! So it only doesn't work from within the module itself.

Confusing?

Seriously, help. PLEASE.

There must be something different about the way the ShoutBox posts in the module and on the "Last Shouts" page? This could be the key! THE KEY!!!

Download the manual tp package and extract the files to your local machine, upload and replace (overwrite) the existing files through your FTP software.
Then point your browser to your forum location/manual_tp_install.php and let it update the database.
Refresh ant try again.

And at this time a year, please dont expect answers all that fast to your questions as we do have a life outside the forum and supoort to ;)
