Title: Center Block
Post by: Hollywood on December 23, 2007, 04:21:22 PM
Complete noob here so please be nice.I am having an issue with the center blocks that only one center block (a news block) is showing up. Other blocks that are installed and active are not showing up. I cannot locate as to why this is or to what a possible solution might be. I have tried deleting the offending block but it did not correct the problem and I got the following error message:

The article isn't active, hasn't been approved yet, or simply does not exist.

I haver also removed the article that was linked to that news block but this didn't correct the problem either. The right and left blocks are showing u and installing perfectly. Hopefully I am over looking something very small. Thanks.

Oh and what is the difference between front page blocks and center blocks. Thanks

Hello.. Could you post the code that you had in the block? Please use the BBC Code tags.
Also you mention an Article, how was this linked together with the block? And also post the code if you can.

Please post as much information as you can.

Front page blocks only display on the front page. Center blocks can be displayed anywhere.

Please also post any errors in the error logs.

I made a mistake. No center/frontpage blocks are showing up. Only the featured article is showing up in the center where the blocks should go. Is there a global toggle to disable the center/front blocks from showing? As far a I can tell there was no code used to set this up. I didn't set it up but am tryign to fix it. when I toggle the featured article off or delete it it gives me this error.

The article isn't active, hasn't been approved yet, or simply does not exist.

No other errors in the error log.

Can you check the Article options for me? At the bottom of every article are 2 links:

[Edit article]  [Edit options]

Select [Edit options]

Then select the box to display Center Blocks and Save.

That option is active, yet the blocks are still not showing up.

How many articles are on the front page? Can you check them all, they all have their own options and can override each other.

only the one article is showing (the featured) two other articles are present but are not active. I have checked each article to activate the show center blocks, which one had it off and is now checked. Is there a why to disable the articles compeltely as I had deleted the orginal offending articles hoping this would solve the problem (it didn't). It instead gave me the error I had listed above. Now I made a new article and set it to featured and it reappears but still no center blocks.  www.savageclan.org (http://www.savageclan.org) for a first hand look.

Unless you want to PM me an Admin account.. you can set the Article:

[Edit Article] > Under Author > Show on front page [No]

I turned the option Off for Featured Article.. I had a quick glance at all the Center Blocks and Article settings.

Is that how you wanted it?

Well the one block is too wide (latest members), but I am going to look into fixing it before crying for help. I removed some of the duplicate blocks as I was trying to do some error checking to see if I could figure this out for myself. So in effect yes the problem was corrected but still have some work to get it to where I am happy with it. Thanks.
