Title: Force URL link to open in center block
Post by: sightpicture on December 13, 2007, 04:52:02 AM
Is there a easy way to have a block (right or left side) with links to .html pages( outside of the Tiny Portal domain) that open in the center block? I have the Amazon.com store code and would like to have a mini store with links opening in the center block.

I know how to do it as an article. But, I would like to use one article or block to refresh as different links are clicked on. Think of it as an iframe.

Thats exactly what I think you'd have to do. Point the link to the frame. Haven't tried it myself. Did you try to use frames?

Here is what I have so far: http://www.mundaneman.com/index.php?page=7
I have created a link from a right hand block "Books @ Amazon.com" labeled "Store" which points to the article page=7. On that page I have a iframe which brings up the astore.amazon.com code.

What I would like is to be able to make a list of books and have them open in that same article, however.... I would like the content to change depending on the book link the visitor/user clicks. Without making an article for each book linked. Piers Anthony, the author of which the fan site I have started to create has many books.

edit: correct spelling of the author mentioned.

Looks to me like your split infinity link works like you want. Is there something wrong with it that I don't understand?

For the Split Infinity one I created another article. I can do it that way its just that he has tons of books. Tons!

I was hoping to have each book load up in that one article. But, I'm not sure how I would be able to do it. Something like when link is clicked load in article ?page=9.  Sort of like when you have an frame name and have each link open in that iframe or frame.

- Split Infinity
- Blue Adept

If it's not possible I can make 80 or so articles and have each link open the new article to display the next book in the row of links.

Thanks for looking into it for me.

Instead of using an article, use a center block which is on the page all the time. Put your iframe in that center block and point all your links to open in that iframe.

Side note:
If you do use an iFrame you may want to take a look at the code posted by G6 at the link below, it lets you 'auto-resize' the pages that are pulled into the iFrame.
