Title: Maintenance Mode & General Q&A
Post by: boardgirls on November 26, 2007, 07:05:14 AM
O.K. I'm a NB 2 TP, I'm being proactive instead of retroactive. I have read the docs and have a few questions before I even think about getting started. ( Imagine that ? ) I'm running 1.1.4 and considering downloading TP v0.9.8 My board has been up and running for 9 month's. 1st question can this be installed in maintenance mode or should it be installed then put into maintenance later for editing which would make sense? 2nd, I'm using the smf default theme and want to keep it that way, so will it just blend into the default theme? 3rd, if at all I don't know, if this has a smiley set and if I have a smiley file named grin.gif will it overwrite it? Or like the main header logo.gif be overwritten? Or is everything seamless? It says it does not affect the database. I know a full backup is the best policy. Any other insight or advice before getting started because this product looks awesome?

T.Y. in Advance

A.1 : Depends, If you want you can do this on Maintenance Mode but it really should not matter.
A 2 : SMF default theme will be that way, just the new blocks will be added, styles and stuff won't change
A 3 : Smileys won't be affected
A 4 : Logo Won't be affected
Everything will be seamless and yes, backing up is the best policy.

Thanks Dragooon again, you have helped us out alot in the past. Just in case something goes totally south can it be un installed as seamless as installed? Or just leave everything off in the admin panel? I hate to be paranoid but I would rather not pull my hair out like you saved us in the past, I learned to be proactive.

Yes, it can be uninstalled like any other Mod out there.

But Make sure to backup before installing/uninstalling it just in case.

boardgirls, you should really setup a test site and just play with it so you can then come and ask the "needed" questions. :)
