Hi,

I want to install Tiny Portal on my forums, as there are some themes I like (fpr halloween and christmas).

However, I'm unsure how to do this. I've downloaded the latest TP, and was thinking of just uploading via Package Manager, but I have a feeling that that would be wrong

Could someone please help

Just tried through package manager, but it takes forever and eventually times out!

Using the package manage is the correct way to install TinyPortal.

Your timing out issue may be server related so you should check check that with your host.

If all else fails you can always do a manual install... it's not hard to do and it's a good thing to know.

well i'm at work now. was thinking of trying a manual install via FTP

just tried the manual install. bud didnt quite work correctly.

any other ideas?

just noticed that the instructions i've followed are for if your running SMF 1.1 or 1.1.2, however, i'm on 1.1.4 Does that make a difference ???

Got TP installed successfully now \o/

HOWEVER

I get this page appear when your not logged in, and also when your 1st log in you see this page

How do i get rid of this? I've deleted the manual.install file

I don't want to hijack this thread but I am also trying to install TinyPortal v0.9.8. I think it is what I am looking for. I want to be able to have description page as my Home page on my SMF forum.

I am fast realising that the SMF and other similar programs are for people who enjoy the complexity of programing. I am very much at a loss here though.

The TinyPortal v0.9.8 I have downloaded. It is a zipped file. Now what do I do with it. I have gone to Package Manager in my Admin section of SMF but then am lost as to what to do next. I then looked at the SMF online manual but am not much the wiser. What is a package? Is it the zipped file or only certain files inside that file? What do I catually need to upload?

I have also searched this forum but all the help and support seems to assume that one knows all the stuff (technical terms etc.) and enjoys fiddling with all the little bits and pieces - or that that just the way these things are?
