Title: Blocks Dissappearing when changing themes
Post by: Ferocity on October 18, 2007, 02:06:11 PM
I'm probably missing something mundane but its driving me nuts. Anytime I switch to one of the non included themes for TP I am losing all of my blocks. They are still set to show under the Block Manager and they are still enabled but they do not appear on the main page. However as soon as I switch back to one of the included themes they show up just fine. Am I missing something obvious?

Are you using TP/SMF themes, or an SMF only theme?
Is the TinyPortal copyright in the footer of the theme?

I have tried Bloc's Enterprise and Cerebus and up until just a minute ago thought they were TP as they were listed on this site under downloads. But I am not ruling out that they may be SMF only which would probably explain alot..

Bloc has both smf and tp themes in the downloads. Make sure TP is in the name of the file you download.

Apparently the lack of the TP in the download names have been a common factor. Thanks guys for helping me catch what should ahve been obvious. Is there anyway to get them divided up or subsectioned for easier browsing?

Well, it's something Bloc is aware of. I'll mention it with the team again as it does need addressing.

IMO this would be pointless for us to fix at this point. Because TP 1.0 will not require separate downloads. The normal version of the SMF theme will work with TP without modifications like it does now. The only thing needed to be added will be the forum button.

Thats a very good point and I know TP has managed so far.. TP 1.0 is still a way from a stable version.
Maybe just a overall notice in a block, set in the downloads pages for now.. just explaining where to quickly find the TP themes.

I can see there's no real point in giving the page a complete overhaul at this time.

A block... now thats a good idea. I'll think on that one for a bit.

Hmmm... Now... where could you possibly find such a thing as a "Block" ?  ;D

Maybe there is a mod that will let you put a 'block' in to do something like that.  :coolsmiley:

That's a good premise for a whole package that would let you customize your forum...
Give me a few days- I'll see what I can come up with.  ::)

Ok, hows does it look now? I've added a custom block to the downloads section that only appears when you are in the theme category. :D
