Alright well I know what I'm doing when it comes to reading and finding what to edit. I have SMF 1.1.4 and was going to bridge it with joomla but that is no longer going to be supported, so I deleted my main page and here I am. Now when I went through the package installer I got the good old Execute Modification ./Themes/default/index.template.php Test failed which looked on the forums read the answers and it was to do a manual install the answer was to my problems. Now I have the TinyPortal 0.9.8 Manual install extracted on my desktop and upload the files to where my forum is located. Now when I get to 2. Follow the mod code change instructions here. Read through the page before you start to edit the files. If you feel that this is way over your head, please ask for help in the installations board on TP.net, and we will see if we can guide you through. So here I am asking now for my problem finally ;D
When searching in the index.php nothing for what im seraching for is found so I stopped their and asking is it to do with smf 1.1.4 and the mods have installed thanks.
EDIT PS - random thought was thinking what if I went through with the installation even though I have that error to the Execute Modification ./Themes/default/index.template.php Test failed and then just go in and manually edit that file would that work, if I tried could it install correctly as well?
You should be able to continue the install and make the edits to the index.template.php file manually.
If you search for the error you are getting, you should be able to find some search results that can help :)
already searched for the errors and they all said manual install but it is like well just installed with the error and then go back in and edit the file that failed with the manual installation instructions correct?
That should pretty much do it, Yes.
I've never yet had to do a manual install, but I've read the documentation and many of the support topics.
Aight sounds good will try this in a few minutes, and I will let you know how it goes, hopefully it works I really need something thats decent.
Ok installed got the error downloaded the file twice and then downloaded the backup file that smf makes to cross reference with. Followed the instructions and few things were missing, but yet they were missing the backup as well so I just replaced this line of code with the other one and it showed up in the admin and im guessing its working now ill be back if i got problems, also might cross reference with the file with a fresh install one to make sure if their were in any changes from the 1.1.2 and 1.1.1 to the 1.1.4 smf files.

Code:

</td>
</replace>
So far looks so awesome, I'm so pumped up again to have my site back up, can't wait to dive into the themes.
