I have SMF 1.1.4 installed and want to install Tiny Portal and a couple of mods. Can anyone suggest the best sequence and what mods are compat with TP.
I mainly need a mod for a picture gallery, but also a banner ad management, and something to include things like Adsense ads and Amazon affiliate products. Eventually maybe our own store.
Anyway, thought maybe SMF Gallery for the photos but not sure about others. Most don't seem to be compat with 1.1.4.
So do I install TP before any mods or after? Or is it hit or miss? And if I use a TP theme is this a factor and should that be done before or after the other mods?
Thanks
You have the entire install board to search for your answers, they have been posted numerous times before.
Hi JeffP, welcome to the world of SMF/TP.
I am also new with regards to SMF/TP. From my own experience, after installing SMF, I followed up with TP and then other mods like Gallery and Arcade. Hope this helps.
Thanks William, I will try that.
BTW, I only posted because there was no definitive answer in other posts I found. TP first then mods, mods first then TP. More complex mods first then less complex. And so on. So I assume there is no clear cut answer to this. Sort of makes sense considering the mods come from different developers and this is all open source etc.
Seems like the wheel is always getting reinvented tough.
You're most welcome.
Tell us your experience after you had tried out whatever sequence you had decided on.
1, SMF offcourse
2, TinyPortal mod as it is the biggest mod and itt changes a lot of files.
Now to the second part, i have tried and im using several other mods, but the order im doing it with OUT errors during the install is.
3, Arcade mod ( im using the E 2 version from ericsworld with out the shop mod)
4, SMF Gallery
Then for the rest of your possible mods you want, you have to figure them out your self, but i can almost be sure of that you will have to manually add them in when you have added the 3 biggest mod to your forum.
Most mods are built the same way, and the installed want to change the same parts in the files, thats why you get errors, so manually installing of the smaller mods is better then manually editing in the big ones.
G6, I agree wholeheartedly with you ma'am.
