Title: 1.1.4 and TP 0.9.8
Post by: vdubbia on September 25, 2007, 05:25:50 AM
I noticed SMF 1.1.4 was released a short time ago... seems okay to upgrade based on my dummy forum, but is there anything to watch out for?

Can someone with Bloc's team verify that 1.1.4 is OK to upgrade to when using TP 0.9.8.

- when e clicked on "Apply Mod", it gave me a result "The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF."

i dont know if its a 1.1.4 issue or my download is corrupt or im missing something

SMF 1.1.4 changes are limited to the "index.php" file in the root directory and an assortment of files in the "/Sources" directory. No template changes ensued with this released. TinyPortal 0.9.8 is fully compatible with SMF 1.1.0-1.1.4.

Any mod written for 1.1.3 will give the same error if you try to install it with 1.1.4. Until the TP Support have had time to have a look and then update TP 0.98 to work with 1.1.4, I suggest that you uninstall the patch, install TP 0.983 and then reinstall the patch. Likewise if you want to uninstall TP 0.983 from 1.1.4 you will have to uninstall the patch to be able to uninstall TP 0.983, then reinstall the patch.

IF YOU ARE DOING A FRESH INSTALL OF SMF 1.1.4 with TP 0.983, or you have encountered the error "The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.""  please add 1.1.4 in the package-info.xml after any place that says 1.1.3's using the same pattern as the previous versions compatible.

Or, download and replace the package-info.xml in your package with the one that is attached to this post.
*warning* I'm sure that this is safe, and works, but until Bloc has officially made whatever changes to TP, this is at your own risk.

BTW, it works great for me on 5 sites!

what other mods do you have installed?

And BTW, as mentioned. This 1.1.4 patch primarily works with the index.php file. I did notice one of my sites with a modified index.php(experimented with meta tags and some other stuff, I forget) didn't install correctly, forcing me to use a backup index.php, and everything was perfect.

Upgrading existing SMF sites with TinyPortal already installed will not cause any problems.

New installs of TinyPortal should only need the file: package-info.xml updated to include: <install for="1.1.4, 1.0.5, 1.0.6, 1.0.7, 1.0.8, 1.0.9, 1.1.10"> in the file.

Note:
It's not recommended that you do this for every package that fails, now.. or in the future. It's there as a safe guard. outdated packages could cause problems if there are major changes to the SMF files.

Post by: WarBirD on September 25, 2007, 09:34:47 PM
I did a fresh Install of SMF 1.1.4 today for a friend, then I installed TP 0.9.8, it said no problems in the installations but it didn´t do anything, the Mod was installed in the Package list, but neither anything was to see from TP, and the files werent copied at all and probably also didnt had any database and file changes. Tried it now the 2nd time, same result. The Folders and files have the right permissions but it still doesnt work.

What can be the problem ??

Why do i need to have TP already installed when I just installed FRESH the new SMF 1.1.4. which would kinda negate the fact that TP could be installed before, right ? ;)

So does TP not work with a fresh Install of SMF 1.1.4, do I have to have an older Version of SMF before ? Because when I make a fresh Install, of SMF 1.1.4. and then TP, i can hardly have TP installed before, can I...

Anyways, thx, then i unfortunately have to do the manual install. Weird though, it always usually worked with the normal install. No idea why it should not this time. What can effect this ?

Title: 1.1.4 upgrade over existing then upgrade.php -will no let me log out
Post by: domineaux on September 26, 2007, 01:02:11 AM
I cannot log out after doing the upgrade 1.1.4.

I'm using helios Multi TP

This is error message I receive in lower right corner of screeen

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_version() in /home/domainc/public_html/forums/Sources/Load.php(1726) : eval()'d code on line 510

------------------------------

I cannot go into admin section as well, even though it lets me click on it and insert my password.

WHen I click logout I get below error message

An Error Has Occurred!

Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

------------------------------------------

I have tried loggin out and back again, but it doesn't work.

Oops! I went back to it and it let me login and logout, but the TP isn't working.

So... the original thing about not letting me logout was probably a session timeout or something.

Regardless,  The same error message is still in lower right corner of screen.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_version() in /home/domainc/public_html/forums/Sources/Load.php(1726) : eval()'d code on line 510

So... I could just some help

Upgrading existing SMF sites with TinyPortal already installed will not cause any problems.

Might I suggest that blanket statements like this can cause trouble ... seeing as how there are several people in this thread and in others who ARE experiencing problems when upgrading existing installations.

That said, I have successfully upgraded both of my sites without any trouble.

If that's the case... what do you do to go back to the 1.1.3?  My site users are gonna be upset.

I need to do something, maybe just copy the 1.1.3 files over the 1.1.4 will get it.

Anyway, if anyone knows a sure way to do it.  There are probably more than a few of us that were too hasty to upgrade to 1.1.4.

Thanks

There seem to be a million topics, which one would you be referring to?  I have gone through pure hell the past 24 hrs since the 1.1.4 upgrade came out. My TP started to fail. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled both SMF and TP THREE TIMES. Right now I have a fresh SMF 1.1.3 with 1.1.4 patch installed, no TP. I am kind of leery of installing it yet.

I still need to keep the Helios-Multi template working.

I've got a headline thing now telling users certain site features are down for Maintenance.

My forums is working with a big error message at the bottom of the screen.

I had logout problems, but I've not heard if any users are having logout problems.

Now I only have the TP.

So, are you saying I should DL a complete new install version of SMF 1.1.4 and then copy the files over my current installation?

Update from SMF 1.1.3. to 1.1.4 didn't work using the package manager.
A small upgrade did the trick, but after the upgrade to 1.1.4 TP 0.9.8 was gone!
Re-installing TP did not work.

Have to built the site again I am afraid.. well, tomorrow is a new bright day :)
(Off course there is a DB backup made before the upgrade.)
