Title: Direction of shoutbox
Post by: Craig on September 23, 2007, 03:21:22 PM
Hello

I've had a search for this info but cannot find it, so apologies if this has already been asked & answered.

I wish to change the direction of the scrolling on the shoutbox that is bundled with the TP package. Can you please me know which file I must edit in order to do this?

Thanks

C

I've been looking into this a bit.
The shoutbox scroller is based on Cross browser Marquee II

The scripts are in:

/Sources/TPortal.php

and

/Themes/default/TPortalBlocks.template.php

If I missed any, I'm sure somebody will point it out :)

I found a topic here:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2040&highlight=Cross+browser+Marquee+direction

There are several other topics about it if you search "Cross, browser, Marquee, direction".

Thats about as much as I can find, one of our coders might have an idea too.

I remember seeing a thread here on this site where someone changed the direction.  I have searched and cannot find it but I do know it exists.   I will keep looking.  TIck

I found a thread where somebody removed the DESC part of the code, which appeared not to work. I am trying things at the moment, and will post the solution if I stumble upon it.

So do you want to reverse the order of the shouts? Or reverse the direction of the marquee ?

Reverse the direction of the marquee please. :)

I've not had any joy with this, it's getting rather frustrating to say the least. I am willing to bet I'll call myself an idiot when the solution is found, I've got to be missing something. :(

I've been speaking to a friend on MSN, and although he can't code it, he thinks changing the direction of the marquee will not fix it. Here's what I want:

The newest shout to be the LAST shout in the direction of the scroll, so if the marquee is scrolling up (as it does now) I want the newest shout to be at the BOTTOM. :) (p.s. Caps just to emphasise what I mean as this is hard to put into text).

Thanks

For that you can use the search as it have been posted and solved before.
I dont have the time to do the search for you, but try "shoutbox reverse order" or similar.

G6, I could kiss you... Such a simple search, I think I was over complicating it somewhat, it works spot on!

It would seem so!
