Title: Few Questions
Post by: Gararion on September 19, 2007, 04:06:30 PM
Hello.

I am trying to set up a message board.  I am using the Cerberus TP Theme.

I have a few questions though.  Link to board (http://www.nws.gararion.com/forum/index.php).

1) Where abouts would I edit to add a new button for navigation?  Basically, I was thinking of adding a button in the area where you find the links for Home, Forum, Help, Search, etc.  I would like to add the link here, but if I must, I can resort to using a block in the left side.

2) I would like to add an image bg to the table cell where it says "Welcome, Guest. Please login or register."  How do I go about doing this?  I have made an image the same size of that table cell, just need to edit the page.  Not sure which page and where.  So far I've only looked in "index.template.php" in the Cerberus TP Theme folder.

any help would be appreciated.

Thats the right file for adding a button, you'll need to find the area near the bottom where all the buttons are currently getting drawn.  I dont know your theme but it should look something like a bunch of ifs and each one makes a button if the condition is met.

eg.  // Edit Profile... [profile]
        if ($context['allow_edit_profile'])
                echo '
                                here you would copy and pasted in the same way that other buttons are being made

I think that depends on who made the theme and what they did but try looking in the style.css file.

In my theme the section its under is called #top

Thanks.  Looked there and found it under ".mybox"

Changed it, and realized that it changed all the backgrounds, so had to revert the .mybox to its original state and make a new one, .mybox3  I then had to hunt down which class I had to change in the index.template.php file, but this was rather easy, got it on my second try.

Thanks.
