You can copy the files from your testforum yes, just leave out the settings.php and settings_bak.php from the test forum so they dont replace the ones you have on your live.
If you get a white page when you load your live site after you have changed all the files, you need to download and run the manual_tp_install.php (database only) file from our downloads and that will put in everything needed for TP to work.

Mst important to keep in mind. RELLY make sure the file DO get uploaded correctly and OVERWRITE the existing ones. Your error you get is most likly permission errors during the install where the package manager didnt add or extracted the TP package correctly.

Yes if your test site is running fine with out errors, just make sure you dont copy the settings.php and the setings_bak.php, they need to be left alone on your live site

Sounds like you have the SMF version of this theme installed, if so please do as follows:
Set your forum the the SMF Core Default theme, and then uninstall the SMF version of the custom theme.
Then go to the download page for the theme that you want.
Make sure to get the correct theme by looking for TP at the end of the theme name on the download page, most download pages will have two links with the 'Download' button being the SMF version and down below that the TP version.

Please visit www.simplemachines.org
When you are there, please look up and read the documentation of how to run and manage your forum.
We support and build a MOD for SMF, we dont teach you how to use the forum, that is something you have to read and learn with help from simplemachines.org.
When you have issues or need help with anything regarding tinyportal, we will be here to assist you in any way we can.
And as a not, NEVER uninstall the SMF default COre theme, thats the very base of your entire forum and how it works.....

JiGs, we are not trying to uninstall the SMF Core Default theme.

We are trying to uninstall the custom theme that is not working for you.

The reason for setting the forum to the SMF default theme is that almost all work that you do on your forum should be preformed while in the SMF default theme.

As G6 has pointed out, knowing things like this are a must if you are going to have good success in running your forum.
