Title: Freeze when refreshing a page
Post by: Bill White on August 23, 2007, 03:34:40 PM
I was editing an article in Internet Explorer and viewing the results in Opera. I saved the edit in Internet Explorer, switched to the Opera browser and refresh the screen (F5) to view the edit in Opera. The result was that Internet Explorer started using all resources. I was unable to close Internet Explorer and my best option was to restart Windows. It happened several times.

My guess is that my attempt switch from Internet Explorer to Opera did not take effect, and that Internet Explorer froze up while trying to do a refresh at some point in the process of receiving the screen that is sent upon saving the edit, or immediately after that.

I don't know whether this is a problem with TinyPortal. TP was set to use FCKeditor. I run SMF 1.1.3, TinyPortal 0.983, User Email System 1.2, Internet Explorer  7.0.5730.11, Opera 7.52 browser, in Windows XP 2002 SP2 with all critical patches applied.

I don't need any help, and I'm not complaining. I did not find a similar report, so I am providing this as a matter of information.

Thanks for TinyPortal!

Sounds more like an internal issue in your PC then a SNF or SMF/TP issue.

Could be. My computer is otherwise well behaved so far. I don't see anything helpful in the Event Viewer for applications or systems messages.

I just tried to duplicate the problem after a lapse of a couple hours, and it did not duplicate. Maybe there was something going on at the host that contributed to the problem when it duplicated in quick succession. I had made multiple edits of the same page, not extremely fast, and there might have been a load on the shared server from other user accounts, or some process, or something happening on the server when the problem was duplicated.

Given that I couldn't duplicate the problem now, there is no need to do anything. Thanks and bye for now.
