I have SMF and TP installed just fine in a certain directory on my server. But, I'd like to move it to another directory.
If i were to simply copy it to the new directory and then run that repair_settings.php thing would it also make TP work fine too? I know that repair file works find on regular SMF when you change directories but I dont know if TP changes that at all.
I think I've decided to use the functionality that TP as my main website CMS. Before I had my forums separated from my main website, but TP offers many things that basically lets me use it as a CMS.
To my knowledge, it should work without any problems but I've not had the chance to test this myself. However, I'll be doing the same shortly. :)
Great thanks, i'll try to remember to update this on whether it worked for me or not.
If someone sees this and thinks differently i'll still be checking this post for a while.
Damn i love SMF and TP hehe
It should work that way. Make a backup of course before doing anything.
Ya I'll backup both the DB and all smf/Tp files.
Move the SMF/TP files to the new directory. Then run the repair file.
Hmm it would be good to know which files should have php Write access though before hand. Is write access only needed during installation or can I set all SMF/TP php files to Read/Execute only after installation/repairing?
The reason i ask this is because it seems like SMF would only need to write to those php files during installation/repair so it could tell those files how to access the Databases which is where all the information is really stored.
I personally keep things at 755 when I'm not installing mods/themes. Except Settings.php I keep at 666.
