Okay, I am getting an error that says my server is too busy and to try again later.  Thus is shortly after installing SMF and TP.  When I get this error, I can few other parts of my website, even a blog that is hosted on another database.  They have no problems at all.  I only have problems with SMF and TP.

Right now I am trying to install everything once more.  I have erased everything my my server, deleted and recreated a database.  So I ask you people, what are the proper steps to install SMF and TP from start to finish.  The way I've been doing it is this:

1) Upload the files I just downloaded from http://www.simplemachines.org/download/ (that being the Full install SMF 1.1.2.

2)  Go to the index.php page and follow the steps there to install the board

3) Once installed, I go to Admin, Packages, download and browse my computer and find TP I downloaded from here today.

4) Once it is loaded, I apply it.

5) I then go to Admin, themes, and load the Helios Multi TP theme I downloaded from here today.
(question on this step, the page to download this theme has two links.  http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item517  One link says it is downloading "Helios Multi" and then under additional files it has a link that says to download "Helios Multi TP".  Which one do I want?  I've been downloading and installing the Helios Multi TP one.  Is this right?)

6) Install the theme.

7) Set the theme as the default to my board.

8) It is shortly after this step that I get an error saying the server is too busy.  It is not exactly after this step, I do a little playing around.  Making a few posts, setting up the board and all.

5] Everything seems to be correct up to this point. You are correct in selecting the TP version of the theme.

Check these settings please.

Admin > Packages > Options > Cleanup Permissions > All files are writable. > Change File Permissions (Enter FTP details).


There are some topics if you search, sometimes it's your host. You can also try manually installing via FTP.

It can also be that the installation of the theme changes the index.php file and doesent apply the changes correctly.
What you can do is to check the index.php file that it have the correct paths.
Download the repair_settings.php from simplemachines.org and upload it to your forum folder.
Point the browser to the file and then click all the blue lines to set the correct values.
Save and see if it works.
Remember to rename or remove the repair_settings.php file when you are done with it.

I am thinking it is a problem with the Theme.  Decided to stick with just plain SMF, it is working fine right now.
