In the doc "how to install a new TP theme" there is the following statments which confuse me.
QuoteIf you have SMF 1.1 or above ONLY installed you need to go here and download the SMF ONLY- Theme of your liking.
If you have SMF 1.1 or above with TinyPortal installed you need to go here and download the TP-Teme of your liking. There are also other themes located in the forum under TP Theme Support.
Right now i just have smf1.2 installed with the black rain theme for smf. I want to use tiny portal as my front end. But the first statement says if i have smf 1.1 or above ONLY..(like i do) then download SMFonly theme of my liking... but if i do that im not installing TP right? or is tp built into that theme and it installs it together?? or do i install TP first and then do the 2nd option listed?
thanks for the help
First off you will need to remove black rain, from your theme manager and ftp also, then install Tiny Portal using the default theme only, also you will need a tp version of black rain if you want to continue to use it
So if i understand you correct. I need to install TP with with default theme (after Black rain is removed). Then i install a tp version of black rains ( if exists) and when i install the tp version of black rain it will apply that theme to both the TP and the smf forum correct?
Yeah got it in one :)
thank you, you wouldnt know off top of your head if they have a tp theme for black rain do ya? :-) ;D

wow, your the man (or the woman if your a woman), thanks allot
Umm I was a man last time I looked ;) any chance of a link to your site? can you see this 'block' in the default theme?
i see the block but not text and search stateed it was the english-utf8 setting, on my forums i only have -utf8 options so i cant change it to english as some have said. So i found the converted 098 language file but cant find where to upload them to, i loaded them to the default theme language directory but my tiny portal block is still empty,
Unfortunately I am not up to speed on UTF8 settings :( but hopefully someone will come along to help with that :)
The way to install the language pack is to download it unzip it and upload it to your Themes/default/language
I actually did that and still didnt work, so i just went to SMF and downloaded and isntalled the english language file and then selected it for my default instead of the -utf8 one and no i see the info in the tiny portal block. Thanks for your help
Ok glad you were able to get it working.
