i cant create a front page(home)
i have been trying for ages all i can seem to find in the help is read more but that wont work until theres something there to start with
i have typed them in but cant get them to display on the home page

What have you typed in where? What do you want for the home page.
You should have something in mind. You have a home page, you just need to fill it up with some content, Articles, Blocks.. etc.

There are no hard and fast rules.

Try going to: Admin > TP/Settings. There you can set out the home page, create articles that will layout like the settings. Create some blocks.

Have a look through the docs section, check out some of the other sites in the Showcase board for some ideas.

well i got some normal posts up on it now but really wanted to do a test page like above
so i could at least know hot to do it before going to town on a facy page

so if anybody can tell me how to get the welcome a up as home page i would appreciate it

also were do i post in here a big weldone for this cool addmod i think its geat so far

You can put your welcome in a article and select the option for the article to be shown on the front page.

i tried that sure i have must be doing some thing wrong as it's all there typed out in welcome a and i created a new one and called it mk home
its figuring it out how to get it on the page
and i cant find a how to on it ???

You need to switch the articles on. You'll see red(off) green(on) lights, or icons.

both a and be are on green full balls and set to Set as featured

What to show on front page:  Only forum-posts
Forum-posts and articles - sorted on date
Only articles

How frontblocks will be shown:  Normal, frontblocks are shown alone
Frontblocks are added first
Frontblocks are added last

Visual options for frontpage
( disabled in Single Page option )  Left side blocks

Show userinfo/news at the top 
Articles layout for the front page:  A

Turn the "set as featured" off and see it that works

when you turn one off it switches to other

both setting are the same for each ???

This has been sorted.  Was using the original articles that came with tp and they were not working right.

and i never did nowt just deleted martlee and it reverted me back to home page

did you move that test article ???
as its blank again ?

I have the same problem. Finally what did you do  to solve this? I didn't understand...Please help me..

Remove the article categories and the articles them selfs that comes with the TP packages and create new ones for your site.
There are some issues with the categories and testarticles on some sites, but if you remove them it should solve the problem

as g6 said and put the shout box if your using it on the left colum not in centre

see if that helps

Finally I can add only one article to the front page. The problem was "set as featured" (the reason why i couldn't is the bad translation).

But the another problem is when I try to add a block to the frontpage in Admin->TP->Blocks still nothing changes. I added 3 different blocks to try but none of them worked. All of them are active...So what's going on?

I tried to solve it for hours...But now I solve this problem easily. In Admin->TP->TP Settings there are tabs in the top which i didn't see. One of them is Frontpage tab. From there I choose  Frontpage Blocks to see in frontpage. Then the selected block are now shown...

no cant see that ?

mmm front page starting to look like a forum index is there a way of making them like box's at the side of each other instead of stacked on top

if you want pass me your site i'll have a look there for you tell you how it looks from a guest perspective as i think that helps loads

If you have more to add to a post please just edit your last post.  TO keep creating post one after the other makes it hard to follow the thread and clutters things up.  Thanks  Tick.

On the front page is there anyway to have the welcome messages on top of the center section with the board index below it?

I have been flipping settings for 3 hours and cant find the correct combo.
( I am reminded of the  game Mastermind)

in setting have the option article then post's selected that should do it for you

yep that does it
settings > front page > articles then posts > layout A

that puts your welcome then some posts up there

if you dont want post just select articles but remeber newest article goest to the top

Thanks but that is not quite what I am looking for.
I would like to put the small welcome message on top of the center section with the entire forum (categories and all) underneith it.

Is this possible?

you want first two together and thats not a option

why would you want it that way tho out of intrest ?

I think i figured it out. I created a center block with just the welcome article.
I then set the front page to go directly to the board index and selected the setting to show center block.

If this isn't the best way please educate me :)

or you alowing guest to have full access to your forum ?

Guests are allowed to see the forum.
There are so many setting is hard to keep track of what is where.

All in all I am liking TP and SMF the more I use it. I came from a snitz forum that did not have anywhere near the customizability.

i have only started doing this forum lark in the last four months forum will be 5 months old on 27th of this months and installed tp on tuesday morning

had to drop down to defoult forum so lost loads of features but getting them back in slowley if there compatable that is
still need to find a free theme as now out of funds just had to pay this months server (free ones wasnt doing the job kept timing out and running out of band width)

so have only experienced the smf and now tp as well

how do i make them little mini banners ???

i think i reda somewere bute cant find it now i need to create a folder or summat in cpanel>public htmml>froums and add the banner code in there

martinmarinekeeper, you really need to separate your issues. When a thread goes 40 different ways it really makes it difficult to keep things sorted around here. If you need to learn how to make banners or something, I would suggest a google search. YOu'll find a ton of tutorials for photoshop, and places that will show you the code on how to insert these things into your pages.

i can do the banners i just cant get them small and put them down the left colum as above left everytime i try iit just puts code in there if you click my sig you will see the banners i want to shrink down and get on the left colum
