As shown in the attached image below, whenever you have a child board within another child board (board > child board > child board) the width of the column that displays the post and topic totals is larger than the default column width. This minor presentation error does not seem to be theme dependant. I know there is a fix since it must have been applied here since it no longer occurs for any theme as it use too. Bloc or support team, what is the resolution?
It happens when there are too many childboards. It still does it here on mine if you are able to see all the paid theme boards. You don't see it happening because the layout has changed since you took that SS, it doesn't show the multiple child boards. I've never seen a fix for this.
IchBin, are saying this presentation error transpires contingent upon the number of total child board, not necessarily by having a child board within another child board? From my experience, I never recall the table column widths increasing if child boards, in a tree-like manner, were only branched out from (non-child) boards.
And as a note to the attached screenshot above of the TinyPortal Web site, the recently revised category and board layout still contain child boards found within other child boards, as it did when that screenshot was taken. Yet as of this moment using any theme this presentation error does not occur. So logic says there must be a fix. May you contact Bloc (assuming he made the latest TinyPortal Web site changes) and ask him directly, please?
There's been no fix applied. I'm telling you, if you could see the child boards that I see (all of the paid theme childboards), the same thing is happening on this very site. Its still happening.
Oh, thanks anyways IchBin. If you (or anyone for the matter) ever do come across a fix please PM and/or E-mail me. :)
This is getting very frustrating. I deleted a few boards on a test forum of mine and the oddball column is getting even wider! This problem is present at my forum, the TinyPortal forum, the Simple Machines forum, and hundreds of other SMF forums. Why do not the SMF developers address and fix this? Am I the only person expressing concern for this glitch?
I brought this up at SMF's forum which has thus far been unanswered- http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=180555
Can I have access to your site to see/test and attempt to fix it?
Well its an offline local server. What if I copy all the folders/files and the MySQL database into a archive, IchBin?
Remember though, this occurs on a new install of any SMF 1.1 branch release (1.1 Public BETA 3 - 1.1.3), unmodified of course, and using the default theme. Also looking at SMF's forum, using SMF 2.0, it apparently has been ignored. :(
Its an IE specific issue, as i don't see anything in FF 2.0. I wouldn't go crazy on a cosmetic issue. Don't assume you're being ignored just because nobody says anything. I'm sure someone will look into it when they can.
I do not normally use FireFox but it appears to render properly using the FireFox Web browser. However using Internet Explorer, Netscape (rendered as IE 6), and Opera, my default Web browser, all display this very glitch! These account for over a 85% market share of Web browsers so it is a big deal to me and thousands of others whom may see this cosmetic error.
IchBin, if I send you an archive of a test forum could you try fix the post/topic totals column? Do you know off hand which file(s) are causing this presentation error?
The the index file for the board is BoardIndex.template.php. So that would be where you would look. I doubt I could fix it though. We need someone more experienced to look at it like Bloc.
