Here's the deal. I want a list of the most recent topics to be listed on another page outside of the forum. Sort of a lead into the forum itself. How would I do this? Can it be done?
Yes. All the details on how to do it are on your SSI page. yourdomain/path_to_forum/SSI_examples.php
Ok I see all of that stuff and I can't make sense of it. All I want to be able to do is create a table inside of my sites front page which will include the most recent topics.
Just add the ones you want and place them where you want them your page. Cut and paste one to your page and see the results.
Well Iam using frontpage to do this and everytime I copy paste something all I get is the text I copied. I have to be doing something wrong.
Recent Topics Function: <!--#include virtual="./SSI.php?ssi_function=recentTopics" -->
This is what I want but I am just not getting what it is I need to copy and where to copy it from.
The problem is with Frontpage...
It sometimes adds things it shouldn't. Try using something else then upload with a ftp program.
Ok...maybe I'm not clear. I need it black and white. What do I copy exactly where do I put it exactly to make this work. Do I copy something right out of the ssi.php file? Do I use the examples in the example ssi.php file?
Act like I am a total child...that's what I need.
Ah... Are you getting it to show what you want regardless of the color you want? If so, you'll need to change the settings of your html or css code for your page, depending on what you are using for that particular page. You didn't specify.
You'll need to get the info from your own site, but it will look something like below.
To use SSI.php in your page add at the very top of your page before the <html> tag on line 1: (You can get this from the top part of your ssi_examples)
<?php require("/********/*****/******/*****/html/smf/SSI.php"); ?>
Where you want it to show on the page add:
<?php ssi_topTopicsReplies(); ?>
You will need to change the page extention from .html to .php

Ok that helped...but now how do I get the text to display smaller so I can make it fit better into the page?
You could surround it with a div tag and apply a class from the style.css file.
