Hi,
I will get a new server soon, so i guess i need some info of what steps to take to move over my smf/tp site when the server is set up.
What do i do first ?
Install SMF and TP first i assume, but then i wonder how to get users and gallery and all without any loss of data to the new host.
Are there any guidelines or can someone help me with this. ?
Yes you install SMF first, then Tiny Portal, you should be able to move your database to your new server and keep all your data. Many host will move your site for you, not all but many.
Thanks,
As soon as it is set up i'll start. Guess they only do that if you stay with the same host. I move to a new host also, the one where i am now don't even respond to a helpdesk question when i ask what is wrong with the server, goes down alot lately, been down for over 6 hrs a few days ago :(
Many new host will move your site from your old host, you may want to ask your new host if they do that. If not it is not that hard to move your database.
Will ask them if they do it, if not i guess it will be done with the help of the nice folks here ;)

Yes it is not that hard and many people are always willing to help :)
There are a few docs at SMF that deal with moving your site that you should read.
Thanks, will try and find em when it's time to do so ;)
Almost there, but some things i don't really understand yet.
The avatars i don't see in the profile where you can choose avatars.
Also the attachements dir , it says it is not writeable but it is.
Maybe there is more wrong still but i guess most is done.

Any suggestions about those 2 issues i mentioned ?
This is something you have and will find the answers on simplemachines.org
The avatar and attachments are their department.
The attachments folder and the avatar settings you find in the Admin/forum/Attachments and Avatars
Make sure the url is set correctly.
And many errors like this can be fixed with the repair_settings.php on simplemachines.org
That did the trick, thanks ;)
Your welcome Mannie :)
