Title: Moon Phase Block
Post by: WSA on December 07, 2005, 06:31:57 PM
Here is a pretty cool moon phase display.  This is pretty important in the fishing world as the moon has quite a big effect on when the fish will bite.

It's an RSS feed so it's easy to do with minimal knowledge.

Just copy and paste this into your RSS box.

http://www.almanac.com/rss/moon.php

I believe this is the XML code also.

Me and my RSS troubles.  I'd love to have this but...  when i make an RSS box with TP  there is no where to put xml code or anything...  it won't hold it all...  only so many characters.  Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

all i get is a feild for the title...  TITLE NAME
then a field for RSS feed:    -no content-   <~  trying to enter any code in there doesn't work because it doesn't all fit...  just a first few characters.

and i get a

minutes to keep cached content...   which is blank but i don't know what to put in there anyway .

any ideas how to get that RSS to work?

Im such a goob.. I was tryin to enter that whole block of code!  Oh, well I tried it with other RSS feeds too cause they really don't have a working link like that you can just put in.  So what RSS boxes I do have are all java /script boxes ...  with all that xml stuff in there...  sort of its been converted to java script with a rss builder posted on this site somewhere.   Thanks a bunch

you can get the same effect with a javascript/html block and insert this code into it:

<!-- // Begin Current Moon Phase HTML (c) CalculatorCat.com // --><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> var ccm_cfg = { n:'1', pof:'1', dt:'1', tc:'#ffffff', pth:'' } </script><table width="140" bgcolor="#000000"  style="background-color:bgcolor="#000000" " cellpadding="0" cellspacing="3" border="0"><tr><td align="center" style="border: 1px solid #AFB2D8;color:#ffffff;padding-top:5px;padding-bottom:5px;" bgcolor="#000000"><font face="arial,verdana,sans-serif" size="1" color="#ffffff"><span style="font-size:10px;font-family:arial,verdana,sans-serif;color:#ffffff"><img src="http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/i/t_current_moon_s.gif" width="105" height="21" border="0" /><br /><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/ccm_b.js"></script><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/ccm_v.js"></script><span style="display:block;padding-top:5px"><a href="http://www.calculatorcat.com/moon_phases/moon_phases.phtml" target="cc_moon_ph" style="font-size:10px;font-family:arial,verdana,sans-serif;color:#777777;text-decoration:underline;background:#000000;border:none;">lunar phases</a></span></span></font></td></tr></table><!-- // end moon phase HTML // -->

Shadow Queen just use this code posted by TechnoDragon in a script box ;)
<!-- // Begin Current Moon Phase HTML (c) CalculatorCat.com // --><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> var ccm_cfg = { n:'1', pof:'1', dt:'1', tc:'#ffffff', pth:'' } </script><table width="140" bgcolor="#000000"  style="background-color:bgcolor="#000000" " cellpadding="0" cellspacing="3" border="0"><tr><td align="center" style="border: 1px solid #AFB2D8;color:#ffffff;padding-top:5px;padding-bottom:5px;" bgcolor="#000000"><font face="arial,verdana,sans-serif" size="1" color="#ffffff"><span style="font-size:10px;font-family:arial,verdana,sans-serif;color:#ffffff"><img src="http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/i/t_current_moon_s.gif" width="105" height="21" border="0" /><br /><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/ccm_b.js"></script><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/ccm_v.js"></script><span style="display:block;padding-top:5px"><a href="http://www.calculatorcat.com/moon_phases/moon_phases.phtml" target="cc_moon_ph" style="font-size:10px;font-family:arial,verdana,sans-serif;color:#777777;text-decoration:underline;background:#000000;border:none;">lunar phases</a></span></span></font></td></tr></table><!-- // end moon phase HTML // -->

I have been using this on my fishing site for sometime now.
You can also use a script box and insert this code for just the current moon phase instead of a ton of pics.
<!-- // Begin Current Moon Phase HTML (c) CalculatorCat.com // -->
<div style="width: 151px;">
<div style="border: 1px solid rgb(0, 0, 0); padding: 2px; background-color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">
<div align="center" style="border: 1px solid rgb(0, 204, 102); padding: 6.1px 16.1px;">
<div style="padding-bottom: 7px; color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12.2px; font-weight: bold;">CURRENT MOON</div>
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">var ccm_cfg = { pth:'http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/', fn:'ccm_v1.swf', lg:'en', hs:1, tc:'FFFFFF', bg:'000000', mc:'', fw:110.9, fh:163.4 } </script>                              <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/ccm_fl.js"></script>
<div align="center" style="padding-top: 5px;"><a href="http://www.calculatorcat.com/moon_phases/moon_phases.phtml" target="cc_moon_ph" style="border: medium none ; font-size: 10px; font-family: arial,verdana,sans-serif; color: rgb(136, 136, 136); text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: rgb(136, 136, 136);">lunar phases</span></a></div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<!-- // end moon phase HTML // -->

Edited for new site address:
You can see the effects on the new portal setup I just started:
