Hello,
Congratulations for this very powerful extension to SMF.
My problem is that I would like to write different categories of news that would be visible only by specific SMF member groups.
I've managed to define a member group filtering on some "article category" blocks, that is very usefull, but I am unable to apply this kind of rights on a whole category.
That is a pity, because I am managing an association and I need to create different levels of rights :'(
Thx by advance
The permissions are on the blocks and not the categories themselves.
Why not just put categories with like permissions in the same blocks with like permissions? Then only users with the correct permissions will only see and access those categories and articles.
You can put an article in a block and set that blocks perrmissions for the users you want to see it.
ermmm... how do you put an article in a block? stupid question I know.
Actually I dont think you can put an article in a block, but you could write an article in a center or front page block :)
I see.... lol....
Yes that is what I meant LOL sorry for not specifying . It would have to be in a center or front page block.
Edit: You can put it in any block. Go to block manager and create a new block. Select block type article block. And then select the article you want. . Just tried it and it works.
Yes you are correct Tick ;) I forgot about that :idiot2:
You can also create a link to the article in a block.
Hi everybody, thanks a lot for your help.
Actually I already know how to define the member groups having the right to see this article block or this other article block.
The thing is that when a low powered member is looking a low power article, he gets access to all the others articles, without any limitation.
These are two screenshots to show you an example :
This is what a power member can see :
- three category blocks (because I've set the rights on them), then
- some tabs showing all the available categories, then
- an article that should be only for power members.

This is what a guest can see :
- no category block (that is exactly what I expected), then
- some tabs showing all the available categories (that is what I would like to put the rights on), then
- an article that should be only for power members. (another item on which I wuold like to put some access restrictions)

I wonder if Tiny Portal can do what I expect. :-\
Not yet, but it will when Bloc gets to it.
