Title: Make a custom screen with no side blocks
Post by: ChetUbetcha on May 11, 2007, 01:43:34 PM
I have my regular front page with left/center/right blocks, and the forums are set to not display blocks on the left or right.  I made a custom screen that runs in a block, but I didn't want to be limited to having it only displayed on the front page.  How on earth do I get that block to display, on it's own page (like the forums), with no right or left blocks?  I would like to have a link on the front page to that block, but I want the site to load another page, as though I clicked on the Forums link, and have that block display with the typical site header information with the block taking up the entire width of the screen.

Is it HTML or PHP?
If it is HTML, you can run that from an article, and then tell it to not display the right or left hand blocks.
If it is PHP, you can still use an article to achieve this, you'll just need to set the article to a PHP article.
You can then set the article to featured and it'll show up on the frontpage.

It can be either HTML or PHP.  That code is working fine.  I am looking for the formatting of the page it's displayed on though.  I'd rather not have it displayed on the front page.  I'd rather have a link to it on the front page so the portal reloads, looking like it always does with the headers, etc., but have that particular block I created display across the whole screen.  I'll try by testing it as an article, not display it on the front page and then go from there.  If you have any other ideas as to how to solve this riddle of mine, they will be greatly appreciated.

If you do just like your saying and setup a article.  Set the article to not show on frontpage. After you set up the article and you are in the article manager go to preview for the article you just created.  In preview the address in the address bar with be the addy for the link.  You can then put the link where ever you like.
