Hey
I'm just looking for a bit of advice for my site , http://beboskinzone.com
Let me just tell you about the site first , BeboSkinZone.Com , Is a profile skin(theme) site for the popular network http://bebo.com , We create and make available various layouts for peoples bebo pages that anyone can use. Bebo is a site like myspace if it makes it any clearer.
Well many bebo users are teenagers and its mostly teenagers that visit the site , However many adults that use bebo visit it too.
Now , Many people do not have a great knowledge of computers , Many bebo users only visit bebo when on the internet and nothing else.
What i'm worried about is that my site is too complicated for the inexperienced user
The site seems pretty basic to me , You have your standard menu on the left, The forum stats under it , Ad's under that , Then on the right site , You have bookmarking options , Skin Catagorys , more ad's , Recent forum posts and then recent drupal comments.
I also plan to add a few new features aswell as introducing a new skin request system in which users have to have points to request skins and you need to post too have points which should get forum activity up and probably the biggest feature which will be BSZ-TV , Online TV Shows! ( Yes , I'm questioning the legality of that one as well but i contacted my host and he said there is no problem using youtube or a video site to stream media as long as you cannot freely download it )
So what i'm basicaly asking is for advice on how to make my site easier to use and more user friendly?
Any tips would be appreciated!
- Thanks
Alan S
Looks good to me!
Nice and clean look and feel.
Thanks , I think so too but then again i wouldnt regard myself as a inexperienced computer user , And im sure no one else on tinyportal would either! lol.
Hmm , I think i'll start coding a basic version , Still using the Drupal and the forum but just making it more basic , No complex look just regular pages with simple options.
Simple is often better.
Too much fluff can kill a site.
:)
I've had a look with a noob hat on and I think that it is already clearly laid out and easy to navigate.
I would think that users are more interested in their own stats than forum stats, so you could have a vacant lot there and there is a display problem at 1024 x 768, the Google Ads overflow across the right sidebar, same in IE7, FF2 & Opera 9.
