Title: BBCode in boards marked for TP Front Page Display?
Post by: Zhorne on April 23, 2007, 04:18:34 PM
Hi, I'm running SMF 1.1.2, TP 0.9.8, and I have a plain jane SMF Board set to display the most recent 5 topics on the TP front page.  It would appear that the TP display of these posts does not process BBCode, is that correct?

Look at http://councilofelders.net  We're using a custom BBCode tag for SMF called WoW Itemstats.  You can see the bbcode right at the bottom of the top post, if you read the thread itself the BBCode works as designed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Correct, and it will not show the code in this version of TP. Cant say it will do that in TP V.1 eather when it comes out.

is there an explanation as to why they may not?  ive heard this numerous times and just wondering why they wouldn't allow it?  yet allowed in posts?  is it a security issue or something?

-thanks

I've actually recently discovered what the problem was with my original complaint...

Basically the TP front page displays a snippet of the post... the First X Characters (you can configure this in the TP settings).  If a BBCode tag is broken by that character limit, TP is not "smart" enough to see this is happening and thus displays a broken BBCode Tag on the front page.  If the tag is not broken by the character limit it will display just fine.

My site's front page currently has a working WoWItem BBCode Tag displayed on the front page... http://councilofelders.net 2nd front page post, hover over the purple text in square brackets... the tag causes a tool tip to pop up displaying information about the warcrack item.
