Title: Combo Clock / Calender
Post by: crip on November 25, 2005, 03:07:03 PM
I found this combo - Clock / Calendar flash and or .swf file I added it in a html block - and or javascript/html - block both worked, and it has a small menu on the right of it to view either the clock or calender & it scrolls up & down, & so far so sweet. :)

I have attached a zip file with the clock/calendar and upload it to your Forum directory.. then add as usual something like this:

<center>
<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
WIDTH="140" HEIGHT="140">
  <PARAM NAME="movie" VALUE="clock_calendar.swf">
  <PARAM NAME="quality" VALUE="high">
  <PARAM NAME="bgcolor" VALUE="#FFFFFF">
  <param name="wmode" value="transparent">
  <param name="menu" value="true">
  <EMBED src="clock_calendar.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"  WIDTH="140" HEIGHT="140" wmode="transparent" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" menu="false">
</EMBED></OBJECT></center>

Enjoy,

I must be loony right now from too much work, but I don't see how that flash clock would effect your forum. It takes the time from your PC, not your forum.

I'm confused...

I tested it out on my test forum and I put it in a right block.  My right block is 200pix wide and the clock still sticks out.  The type of block I chose is html.

I tried to change the width in the code from 140 to 100 and it made no difference.

Any ideas on how to make it smaller?  Cool snippet thou  8)

1. Put the codes in the new block script snipplets.

2. Unzip clock_caledar.zip then paste clock_calendar.swf in ur forum folder.

Bump ...
Crip,

This is still an issue.  It was the same when I first tried this and had TP version 0.86 and is still doing the same thing on TP 0.97.  To see it in action check this link ...
http://talesofthehavenexpanse.com/SMF-1/index.php?action=forum (http://talesofthehavenexpanse.com/SMF-1/index.php?action=forum)
Once you get there just click on any available board and you'll see that even though the block is still there the clock isn't.  It's the same in all themes as well.

Any clue?

Try using the full path for the swf file. In both object and embed tags.

Crip!! Help! I am apparently fecking retarded, because I cannot figure this out. I go into my tp admin panel, and I add the clock code to a new "block" (I'm choosing a right side block, and "scriptbox" as my type, since the only other thing I have is bbc_html and it isn't working there either). Then I uploaded the clock.swf to my website's main directory... is that where I'm going wrong? I feel like an idiot.

dont feel bad guys.. im having an issue on getting this clock to show up on my theme right now.. Crip.. maybe you could take a peek at it.. it wants to show up (yes i have it in a scriptbox) but i get either the echo part to show, or i get code that shows, and when i take this part:

<param name="wmode" value="transparent"> out, it still shows the echo' bit.. think im going to have to try out a new style of clock anyways.. idk but i miss not having time back on my site..

here is the addy in case you have lost where i am am:

seems im having an issue with my friends block too.. blame it on i hate to code..

Then I uploaded the clock.swf to my website's main directory... is that where I'm going wrong? I feel like an idiot.

Keurigirl,
it really doesn't matter where you upload the file if you just put in the "direct" url))  • http://w w w.Keurigirl.com/clock.swf -- Now the "direct link or w w w.com does need to go in two (2) places in the block code.. do this your Clock will show. :)

dont feel bad guys.. im having an issue on getting this clock to show up on my theme right now.. Crip.. maybe you could take a peek at it.. it wants to show up (yes i have it in a scriptbox) but i get either the echo part to show, or i get code that shows, and when i take this part:
<param name="wmode" value="transparent"> out, it still shows the echo' bit.. think im going to have to try out a new style of clock anyways.. idk but i miss not having time back on my site..
