Just a suggestion...
how bout a shoutbox restriction where a user can't post on the shoutbox till he/she has at least X posts X karma...
avoiding bots spamming the shoutbox for urls and stuff :)
Ditto. This would be very useful. Maybe even have it where they have to have a certain number of posts per day? This would help forums where the community has migrated to the shoutbox.
Well you can have a membergroup based on posts that can only view the shoutbox...

Plus he is correct about that one too..
hmm bout the member groups to view the shoutbox isnt satisfying enough... what I want is for all members to see the shoutbox... and tell those who have lower posts to post more so that they can also post in the shoutbox :D
I'll see if that kind of control can be added the shoutbox.
thanks XD really lookin forward to it :D

Quoteavoiding bots spamming the shoutbox for urls and stuff
I can't find a reference to this anywhere. I have TP installed with a shoutbox only visible and usable by members, yet somehow spam for viagra, etc. is getting into it every day. How is that possible? These people are not registering for the forum, but they are getting posts on the shoutbox anyway. :-\
Also, is there any way to keep spam out of a shoutbox besides restricting it to registered users, which doesn't seem to work? Thanks for any help with this.
Turn off the permissions for guests to post.
Without some kind of CAPTCHA (Visual Verification) you are inviting spam.
I don't have permissions on for guests to post. In other words, they can't. That's why it's so weird that spammers can get in to the shoutbox.
Can you post a link to your site?
Have you any spam bots registered that are posting?
What versions of SMF/TP ?

It's not implemented yet, Bloc said he would take alook at that option, not that it was there.
