I'm working on a site using Xoops CMS as basic website.

The SMF is installed as a standalone app on the server with it's own separate MySql database. Currently, TP is not installed.

I would like to embellish the forums and add the TP. I have not done this before, but I can't see a problem.

I'm mentioning this, because just maybe someone has experienced some kind of annoyances I should be aware.

I don't see why you would have any problems out of the norm if your SMF is on a separate DB and in a separate folder.
