A screenshot of what you mean would be great for us to have.
Can you provide one for us ?

But if i got this correct, i think you might need some updates on the language files, but as i dont really know what you mean by white block i cant give you any better answer

Definatly langauge files that are missing.

take the language files from the TP pakage and upload them to /themes/Default/Languages/all language files here, both english and if you have other languages they go in here.

Sounds like the files dont get uploaded correct.

Check the settings for your FTP and make sure it's set on auto, and not just binary or ASCII as the files will be corrupted if you have eather one.
And if that doesent work, you need to download the manuall TP package and extract it to your local PC and then upload all the files again (overwrite the old ones) and make sure you dont get an error on any file during the process

If you have broken files during the installation through the package manager, you need to manually reupload the files from the manual install package from the downloadsection.
That will give you better control over the files and the tranfer of them to your forum.
So if you just download the TP V.0971 files only package from the downloadsection, and extract the package on your local machine, then open your forum root from FTP and upload all the files again manually, when it asks you to overwrite the files, you click YES on ALL files.
When all the files are there, refresh the forum and see if everything look as it should.

Your forum root directory

When you have extracted the package on your local machine, you see the tree structure for how it looks on the server.
Make sure to upload them as they are on the server :)

Make a folder you extract the package to on your LOCAL pc, when you have the file extracted, you see how the folders and files are set there, upload them as they are to your forum ROOT ( inside forum folder) directory, that way they will come to the right place as the tree on the file you extracted are the same tree structure as the forum.

all language files go in the Themes/default/languages folder. Delete any TP language files you see in there, and upload them again from the package that you unzipped onto your desktop.

Broken files (0byte) and using the utf-8 language files was the cause for his errors.
Uploaded new files, and placed the utf-8 files from the downloadsection in the default/language/ folder and it was set to go.

Somewhere in your FTP program settings there will be a place to add the file name extensions of the files to transfer in ASCII mode,  if php, css, txt and sql are not there add them. Auto doesn't do anything unless you have these set.

Transfering these types of file in binary mode can corrupt them.
