Title: Can't access new install
Post by: Yellowrose on March 09, 2007, 07:40:06 PM
OK here goes.

We had to move servers. I uploaded and got nameservers changed and everything went fine. I installed 2 fresh copies of smf 1.1.2 and tp 971. everything with that went fine.

I put both boards in maintenance mode. Earlier today I did a little work on both boards. The one I am not concerned about accessing at the moment due to databases being restored.

I would howerver like to access the second board but I guess I forgot to put in the forever for the login. Now when I try to get to the site all I get is a white page with my maintenace messege. >:(

I can't even get a login window I even tried

http://www.******/**/index.php?action=admin

and can still only get the maintenance page. :o

How can I get into the site?? I need a little help here so I can check that the changes I made are the correct ones. I'm just working on the theme and wanted to be sure the colors were showing properly.

This is something you have to search the answers to on SMF forums.

Thanks G6 will do. I just asked here because I find here a little quicker sometimes and thought someone might have the answer.

I'll check the SMF forum.

Thanks :)

Well just to let you all know I found an answer but the solution they mention does not work.

For future reference they say to open settings.php and in the line for maintenance mode change = 1 to = 0

I tried this and got another error messege that smf couldn't connect to the server because the server is busy to try again later. And if the problem persisted to contact my host. I did that and they just refer me back to the develpoers so I guess it's just pass the buck time.

Sorry If I seem bitter but I've had a rough time with tech support of any kind lately and I'm just so frustrated I want to scream.

So it's back to square one delete the whole thing and start over. 2 days worth of work down the tubes. I can't get help at SMF because I can't afford to wait a few days for them to answer. I posted this here because of having TP installed and because I thought someone might have an idea of what I can do.

Upload it to your forum root and point the browser to the file.
Click on ALL blue lines so it change to the correct values and paths, and refresh the forum

If you have any more troubble, i can help you if you send me all the info to your server and site

Site url =

Thanks G6 I was just so frustrated yesterday. Found out my problem. My partner had deleted all the tables in  the database so he could restore the backups from the other server and didn't tell me. So naturally there was no info in the database for SMF to access. The turkey I could just hang him sometimes. I guess that's what I get for having a partner with Gnome in his name  ::) he's just as mischievous as one sometimes. :2funny:

Everything is restored now and working fine.

Thank you so much for your patience with a frustrated and impatient old lady
