I've got possibly the stupidest question ever asked here. Think I know the answer, but I'll take alternate suggestions.
Is it possible to setup TP independent of SMF?
I'm putting together a site for a big band and TP's articles, mods and blocks address nearly everything I need. I want to display the band roster, have an events calendar, show photos and newsclips, maybe a music library, etc. I really don't have a need for forums of any kind with the exception of maybe a guestbook. Joomla might be decent for something like I've got in mind, but I've found TP to be a lot more configurable (at least for someone of my rather limited abilities) than Joomla. I've looked at a couple of other CMSs as well, but none of them look as good as this one.
I'm guessing that I could just do an install of SMF, add the TP mod, and then use permissions and forum settings to pretty much get rid of the forums (the members table would contain the band's roster); but that seems almost counterproductive as I'm still going to have a fairly unwieldy database on the backend and most of it won't be used.
Just curious. Any ideas? Thanks.
The answer is simply NO
TP is wraped around SMF and can not be used any other way then installed to the same directory as the forum itself
u can if you want hide the fourm link totally from your main menu and use the portal features without the fourm.
but standalone without SMF is not possible.
That's what I figured. Thanks!
