Yes its true! Yours truly is a Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD) in Microsoft C#.NET today. Passed my 3rd MS exam today with flying colors. Very tough tests I must say. I actually failed the 3rd exam by only a couple questions a couple of weeks ago. Second time was a charm though, passed with flying colors only missing one or two on the exam this time. Do I feel like a programmer? Not really... lol But once I get a job as a junior programmer and start getting dirty that will change quickly. :D
Grats - those test are really hard
Right on Ich! :) .. well done.
Great Job, So now what are you going to due?
Make lots of money.. ;D
Congrats IchBin 8)

That is great IchBinâ„¢ , we are all very proud of you.

First I have to change jobs. lol I've actually already applied for a couple. Then I'll will work on the more money thing. :) I'll have to give myself a couple of years before I'll start seeing the benefits of this. But yes, thats the plan.
Well done you!!! ;D
Wow good job. I couldn't fully understand what you posted ichbin but you have a job at Microsoft?
Congrats!!

No Brian, being MCAD means I'm certified to program in C#.NET (like PHP but much more complicated). Basically it means I have a paper that says I think I know what I'm doing. ;) lol
Thanks everyone!
well done :D congratulations
What did I say when you failed the last time, you would do BETTER this time :-*
Thats my TP husband, CONGRATULATIONS IchBin :)
Thank you :) Only about 6 more weeks and hopefully I'll be finished with two more exams. If I pass those I will be Microsoft Certified Systems Developer MCSD. Not sure what I'm going to take after that, but we'll see.
Congrats! :) And great that you passed too..been sniffing on thsoe certifications some years ago, but never got up to actually take the courses. ::) Instead I began looking into php on my spare-time.. :P
Seriously, as anyone not educated in programming will tell you, a paper that says you indeed know your stuff, will go along way in obtaining jobs in that area. Otherwise its pretty hard to convince employers that you actually can do the job.. :P
Congrats Ich! I know how hard those tests can be. I once started down that path and wound up going a different way. Reasons for me not continuing was geographic, but I still have all the books, a little over 2 tons worth! ;)
lol! Yes, it blew my wife away when she realized I had a novel for each course. She thought it was one book for the whole certification. Reading a 1200 page book in 4-5 weeks is not really fun. Looking forward to the job change. Been a little disgruntled lately about my boss and feeling a bit unappreciated. I'm hoping he'll realize how much I do for his company when I'm gone. >:D Our IT market here is very hungry right now, so I don't think it will take me long to find a job. Just need to find one with good benefits.
Congratulations! It's tough (not even considering the exams in this case) to change careers and takes a lot of courage and commitment  If I might ask, has your career to date been in IT at all or are you doing a 180 compared to the work you've done previously?
Pretty much a 180 over a progression of time though. My main position is Shop Manager, where I am in charge of the guys working in our shop and all the equipment etc. Although, the company I work for is family related I've become the only in house IT guy for their construction company. I've built all 8 of their computers, setup and maintain their network, implemented an automatic backup service for all stations, setup email/web and file server. Not to mention the software support for everyone that doesn't know how to use a computer. And that would pretty much be everyone. On top of that, I've added a inventory software tracking system for all of their equipment and sundry items for job costing... The list goes on and on. This has all happened over the last 2 years. Hence, the reason I'm in school for it and ready to move on. lol
Man I HATE reading. I would've passed out if i had to read those books, lol :P

Sounds like you've got a plan - and that's always a good thing. Looks like it will be a good natural progression though since you've been doing IT stuff for a couple of years. Good luck in your new career!
Thank you! I really appreciate your sentiment.
Congrats Ich! We can celebrate in a couple of weeks when I am in town.
Good job IchBinâ„¢
May you never lose the thirst for knowlege (https://www.tinyportal.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nokonium.plus.com%2Fblack-cat%2Ffood%2520%26amp%3B%2520drink%2Fbeer.gif&hash=1c8ec8cbead3f7806c402806a3dac2080d2d6a4d)
Congrats IchBinâ„¢!!!
Oh... And just so you know, it won't stop here!
You'll likely still be taking classes even after you retire!
Wow. Well done. What kinds of stuff will you actually be programming?
Depends on the job I get. I've applied at a place that is affiliated with our University so if I get a job there, it will more than likely be something to do with their own in house programs. Windows applications to put it in a broad perspective anyway.
Ken,
Yes I realize this. lol But as long as I'm continuing to progress and my work is paying for that, I have no problem with that. :D
Apply for microsoft :D Then you can distribute us the software free ;) lol

Thats one nice thing about being an old retired fart like me is that the schools let you in for little or no money... the CompTIA A+ classes that I'm enroled in now only cost $3.00 each. ;D
That is sweet. IMO, that exam needs some serious updating though... I just passed that one back in December.
