I have a problem with some New Headphones --
..I hear my computer clock (ticktock) and static while trying to listen to music or anything else..
..I've had lots of headsets but this is the 1st one to do this, excellent name brand & quality - superior listening all but the computer/clock ticking and the static in the background...which I can still hear with the music turned off??
..Has anyone had this problem??. it is very irritating when listening to music most of the day like me..any pointers for me to try? ..I went to my Control panel to "Sounds and Audio Devices" -- but really didn't see anything that would help ..
thanks -- anyone??

Sounds like you have a bad connection Crip. If your other head phones worked ok, and this set doesn't thats what I would think it would be. Try pulling the jack in/out to see if it fixes itself.
already did that Nib, 1st thing I thought of trying..only difference with this set is they have a Mic..
I think it's an impedance issue. If these head phones are better quality, then you may be able to hear noise which is not shielded by your sound card properly.
And you may not have been able to hear these noises with a lower quality brand.
Which brand are the head phones? And what is the brand of sound card?
ZTN
Sound card I dunno?..Headphone are brand name Platronics multi-media stereo headset...you maybe right..?
Maybe... I just think that it's the sound card. And if it is an onboard sound card then that is more likely to introduce noise.
My old sound card used pick up the noise of my mouse scanning the desktop. If I didn't move the mouse, then it was fine.
just a thought. You could return them for another pair of head phones and they would do the same.
Try the head phones in a different source, or another computer entirely.
I will try both, thanks Zetan.
I finally fixed my Headphone issue, I was looking at software programs bundled in my (HP Pavilion) and in the Control panel I accidentally found something I had just over looked..called: -- "Multi-channel Sound Manager"
-- it has lots of settings and all about sounds/audio..anywho, I fooled around with it while using my headset and clicked [headphones] check box and all the static computer clock ticking all went away..now I have a killer set of headphones..I will mark this thread as solved! :)
cp~
That was great news Crip

Yar... That might work too ::)
it was really dumb of me not to think inside the box! :uglystupid2:
I'm a little surprised that the other headphones never needed that setting. I'd do a little experimenting with the old head phones, and that option. Just to see if it makes a difference.
Still, I'm pleased you found a fix... and didn't have to buy anything else.
lol that reminds of me when i thought my headphoes were not working, until i discovered it had a small volume control on one of the earphones which was set to 0
