I have gotten to the very last step of installing TP on my recently upgraded SMF1.1.2 forum. I am using tp version TP_0971.zip. All the previous steps went fine, however when I get to the Install Now button I get this message.
Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/fishin24/public_html/forum/Packages/temp/./tp_install.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/fishin24/public_html/forum/Sources/Packages.php on line 552
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Dave it was my understanding that you have to edit some files to directly apply it.
I read something earlier today here so you may just search it... Otherwise I just had 1.1.1, installed .97, then checked for errors and applied the 1.1.2 patch directly from the admin panel inside TP.
Not quite sure what you are getting at. Is this, TP_0971.zip, just a patch? Should I have started from an earlier version (TP.97) and then applied this (TP_0971.zip) as a patch or am I not getting it?
virtualdave
9.71 only supports 1.1.1... :) Do that first.
This is where I aquired the TP file I downloaded, and then attempted to install via my SMF Package Manager.

You could try the manual install http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=12118.0
or try this http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=13225.0
See, I just applied the update using the admin control panel. I did not alter any TP files. I have an active 1.1.1 w/ .97. Then from the admin panel did the update from within. Maybe you are getting a corrupt file transfer? Is there any way to go back to 1.1.1 or can you not remove the edits?
I don't even want to comtemplate going back to an older version of SMF. It just got out of the SMF support shop. There was some sort of problem that was stopping the database from updating to 1.1.1. They got it straightened out just yesterday so I'm not undoing any of the forward momentum. When it came back it was updated to the newest 1.1.2 version of SMF. It just seems that I am one click away from success and I'm hoping that someone will understand the error message and be able to tell me what to do to rectify it. If that dosen't happen I might try the manual install.
virtualdave
Good luck then. I hope it goes successfully... ;)

thats nothin to do with tp or smf - it's about the installed php version on your webhosting - you should take a look which version of php is installed - should be 4.4.x or newer
Pyx
MySQL 4.0.16 running on localhost This is what is running on the server.
Oddly, I have a test forum with TP successfully installed, running on another server and the MYSQL version is,
MySQL 4.0.16 running on localhost. The test forum and tiny portal versions are as follows.

TinyPortal v0.9.7 Ã,© Bloc

No takers. OK, here are lines 551, 552 and 553 of Packages.php
// Now include the file and be done with it ;).
require($boarddir . '/Packages/temp/' . $context['base_path'] . $action['filename']);
}
Any observations?
virtualdave
Should I give up? or is there anyone out there who is up to this?

sql != php ...
Ha Ha! I laugh at my dyslexic=self. So, I have now found out that my PHP version is "We support mysql and php version 5 on our shared servers" Ipowerweb Hosting. Where to now?
virtualdave
hmn -- so they might have an old php 4 version running but an actual php 5 ? maybe you have to parse the php files with php5 by setting an addtype in a htaccess ?
dunno - every hoster has it's own way how things work or not.. sorry :(
New question: given the situation it dosen't seem prudent to attempt to do a manual install or am I just a pessimist?
virtualdave
It would seem to me that given the version of php, if that is the problem, then you either need a new host or for them to upgrade. A manual install will not fix that.

So, "we support php5" isn't the same thing as having php5 installed on the server? I thought the answer I got would have ruled out a php/server problem?
virtualdave
Like I said before Dave. I went the 1.1.1 and 9.7.1 TP on it. I can't say for sure if it is php related or not. I actually installed a test site today that way. It went easy as pie... Maybe try a test setup in a different directory and DB just to rule out the php or version issue. If you can get 1.1.1 up without issues then it is either 1.1.2 or a corrupted file. Thats my take so far. ;)
I do have 1.1.1 with TP9.7 on a test board, different server but same server package and same hosting, Ipowerweb.

Can you install the patch from within the admin section without errors? I did that on my main site with active mods and had no issue what so ever. :)
I can try it for a test. Sure I will do it now. on second thought I will do a backup first and get back to this when I have done it.
virtualdave
Well, that went great. I now have the most highly upgraded test forum available. My SMF1.1.1 with TP 9.7 is now a 1.1.2 with TP 9.7 with Arcade Simple Image Shack and Ad Mod all installed at the time at the upgrade. Go figure. If I could just get it TP to install on my live forum I'd be a happy camper.
virtualdave
Well, assuming its on the same host, it isnt a server issue. Maybe a permissions issue or corrupt file. Bout the only ideas I have.
Please post a link on your forum to a phpinfo.php page so I can take a look.
What is phpinfo? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=18250.0)

I did as you said here is the link.

Well, I"m not sure what your issue is. If you'd like I can take a look at your setup? PM me an FTP and a temp Admin account if you'd like and I'll take a look.
IchBinâ„¢ i tried to install tinyportal through the zip file you uploaded (the one altered to be compatible with smf 1.1.2) but the package manager gives 2 test failures in 1) ./Themes/default/index.template.php , and 2) ./Sources/Load.php !!! is there anything i should do ???
If you get errors on those two files it usually means you have other mods installed besides TP.
TP searches for strings, but if they are changed by another mod, TP installer will not find the string.
Eather go ahead with the install, and read the mod instruction on what code the two files need to use/add or change and do it manually.
The index.template.php have quite a few strings it need to add so if you are unsure of how to add it manually. I suggest you uninstall the other mods you have, and then try to install TP again. If you still get the errors, proceed with the install anyway and then use the premade files from the sticky post in this board.
Extract them and upload them overwriting the old ones, That will bring TP in, then after that you install the other mods again.
TP is quite a big mod, so it's easier to install that one first and then the other mods you want.
i did just that and it worked !!! case solved , thnx everyone for the help !!!
I'm experiencing a problem which appears to be somewhat similar:
Downloaded SMF 1.1.2 about a month ago, and am trying to apply the TP mod (TP_0971.zip) that I downloaded from this link after reading:
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=13225.0
Initially I got an error due to changes I made at the index.templates.php page, but after overwriting those changes to an original copy I was able to get all the installation actions to report as "Test Successful".
When I clicked on the "Install Now" button, this is the error I'm receiving now.
Fatal error: packageinstall(): Failed opening required '/home/tscsports/www/tscforum/Packages/temp/./tp_install.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/share/pear:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/tscsports/www/tscforum/Sources/Packages.php on line 552
Any help or insight would be appreciated .....
here is some other information, which after glancing through this thread may or may not be pertinent ..
http://www.tscsports.com/phpinfo.php
Thanks for your help ....
open your package folder through FTP, create a folder and name it "temp" set the folder permissions on packages and that new temp folder to 777 and then try to install through the manager again.
Thanks G6â„¢
That did the trick. I sincerely appreciate the help and the rapid reply !
I not here to hijack the thread or something but I got the same exact problem and reckoned it would be more usefull to continue here then to open a new one.

checkbox:
- did use the modified 0.971 package
- did create a temp dir in Packages
- did make is 777 like Packages dir
- Sources directory files are set to 644
- php version is 5.21 see phpinfo link (http://hakkah.net/phpinfo.php)
Quote- Sources directory files are set to 644
Should be atleast 755 on all files or even 777 on some hosts.
as usual it's a very simple thing that got me insane. Well one thing is for sure Installtron is then wrong because it sets most files to 644 including themes and all.
Thanks G6
That is actually the way the server is setup and doesn't have anything to do with the SMF/TP install routine.
My server did the same thing ... I'm still chmoding the files to 777 ... maybe one day I'll get done ;)
