Hello People
Wasn't sure where to put this but here it goes. Using TP with SMF 1.1.1. and having issues with new member activation. What i would like to see happen and i thought it would but doesn't is have a new member sent an email after registering which they have to click on a link to comfirm their email address. Once this is done, i can then activate them and send a welcome email. I have tried this with a few test accounts with the following results. No confirmation or welcome emails are received. The only way i know a new member is awaiting activation is by going into CP/Members and seeing it there. Choose activate and send email and activation works but again no emails.
Would appreciate any help in achieving this activation setup.
Thanks!
If you go to admin>Registration>Settings you will see the options for registration

If you select Member Activation from location Lesmond mentions, user should get an activation email. When they activate via that, there is no further approval from the Admin. If you choose Approval, there is no activation email, the user has to wait for the admin to approve them.
Your description souinds like you expect both user activation and then approval. There is no programming to support that functionality in SMF (and this IS an SMF question).
Hello
I applied the above settings and then created 2 new test accounts each with different email addresses and have not yet received an email in either case. Spam folders have been checked. Are there any servers settings i should check on my host?.
Thanks
No, Nothing to do with the sever at all. Something is wrong with the e-mail....
I think anyone having the same problem with that e-mail....

How do you have your mail setup in the server settings? Do you have it set to use PHP or an SMTP server?
That might solved the problem with the e-mail if so i wanna to know too....
It is set to php default.
Then you may need to ask your host if its working. Or you could try your ISP's SMTP for a quick test to see if you can get that to work. Some ISP's may not allow this though.
But most forum owner have this problem too. Myself have it and i really like to have this e-mail thing because lot's of spamming and bot's is joining the forum....
Did you check with your host and ask them to look into it?
No, But i don't know what to tell him about this the e-mail..
Tell him that your forum is set to use PHP for the mail function and that it is not working. See if he can tell you why.

I don't know what my forum is set too PHP or somethine eles....
Admin > Server Settings > Feature Configuration. On the top of that page it should show what you are using. If you haven't changed it, it should be PHP. And if your mail is not working then you should ask your host why the PHP mail function is not working on their setup.
Thank's! I have it set like that..
