Hi,
I just installed TP 1.1.1 and it appears to be working correctly because I saw the welcome message on the Front Page. However, I can't see to make it look like I want it to.
I would like to have a 2 column board. On the left side, the most recent forum posts from a specific category. On the right side a couple of blocks. In the Admin --> Front Page I chose layout C. Right now all the front page shows are the forum articles. How can I make some blocks show up (e.g. stats, search, site map) on the right side?
Thanks!
You really need to explore the TinyPortal section of your admin panel. All of these options are there, and in plain English. If you don't see them, make sure you check the default theme as that is where TP is installed. If you are using any other theme than the default theme make sure you are using a theme that has been converted to work with TinyPortal. You can find these themes in Crips board and in the downloads section.
OK, thanks. I changed the theme back to the default and the blocks are showing up. My theme must not be showing them for some reason.
Again, make sure your theme has been converted to work with TinyPortal. A normal SMF theme will not work with TinyPortal until the proper code has been added to the index.template.php file for it to work with TP.
"Proper code"? Where can I read up on what code is needed?
Hi LittleBob :)
Dont worry ull get used to the terminology and its pretty easy stuff too.
First thing to know is that Tiny Portal does not use normal SMF themes.
TP Enabled Themes as they are called can be found here (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat476), just look through each folder as well Bloc etc, thay have more themes in them)
Also many conversions of SMf themes can be found here Crip Board (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?board=128.0) also you can post conversion requests if u have a custom theme
Finally there are a few paid themes available as well in the themeshop (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=themeshop)
So to sum it up your theme whichever u load MUST be TP enabled or else the side blocks wont show up
If u have more questions feel fre to ask
Hope that helps
