I have not been able to figure out why or what because I didnt do anything out of the ordinary. But all the java buttons are brtoken as it says an "object" is required. I have no idea what to do :(
You can check my site out at www.shmup-dev.com - I'm pretty upset about this because I have no idea what I'm supposed to do to fix it? What would cause an "object" to be required?
I see that you have a redirection to your site.
When you upgraded, sis you move places/server/domain ?? at the same time ?
That could be the cause to missing images, the paths for them might be wrong now(often the case)
If you rightclick the red x, and look at the path they should be, you have a pretty good idea on where to start fix it :)
Semms like tha paths are changed for your images some how.
They should be here
http://www.shmup-dev.com/forum/Themes/dilbermc2/images/english/
I dont understand? What's moving them? How do I find out where my "paths" are set? Is it thaT? or do I need to just move files over there? I dont know why they are missing? I just unzipped the same folder over!! I dont know how they just "moved"
On a second thought, did you install TP with Dilber set as default, cause you are missing all of the images in the dir i posted, so it seems like your entire TP is wrongly installed
No No No No...
Its not the images..
I didnt move the site either.. I just had a PORTAL at the front page.. so you're thinking its because of a site move... no no its not that at all.. I didnt move the FORUM at all..
AS far as TP Goes.. I installed that over SMF, and LASTLY installed Dilber.. EVERYTHING worked until recently.. and I do not know exactly how they broke or when.. I just noticed that they werent working just recently and I dont know how it happened. I'm guessing after the most recent TP install.
Ok.. So you're saying the paths are wrong? But I went into settings and indeed they are right :( Its not images thats broken anyway.. its javascript!! I'm getting JavaScript Errors...
And the images folder is correct!
I just downloaded your latest DilberMC and unzipped it and shot it right over the existing theme and NOTHING changed.. the Javascripts didntget fixed and the IMAGES didnt change... Missing buttons!? What are you talking about!! :o I'm using EVERYTHING that was in the copy you sent there..
When i browse around your forum in FF it seems OK, but in IE you have a lot of broken imagelinks, they show up as red x only. And when i tried to look at the image it came out as page not found.
Soi checked the folder, and it's empty.
What you can do is to download the manuall install package, extract the files from it to your local PC, then upload and overwrite all the files you have now with the new ones, and then refresh and see if it works again.
And make sure you set the forum to use the Default SMF core theme before you do anything else.
Well, I just downloaded the manual install package. and uploaded and overwrote all files.. then used the additional SMF + TP install files on this forum and nope the javascript buttons are still broken.
Can you set your forum to use the Default SMF Core for me please and see if they are behaving the same in that theme
When I switch to Default Core, everything is broken.. If that helps any. If I try other themes the Javascripts are still broken.
I think you have to go the long way on this, it the core is broken, nothing will work no matter what we do.
So follow this.
1. Set your forum to SMF Default Core (even if it is a mess it have to be set as default)
2. Browse to Simplemachines.org and download the update package from there.
3. Extrach the package, and upload overwrite all the files with the ones from the package.
4. Point your browser to the DB update file /yourforum/update.php and it will fix any errors if any in the DB
That will take care of any errors in the SMF files (also remove your mods, but there is no other way to save your forums content.
NEVER leave the Default theme, this is what you have to use until everything is back on track !!

TinyPortal
1. Eather you install the TP V.0971 from the package manager no (This is the FIRST mod you install, not anuthing else)
2. If you get errors from the installer, (shouldent be any with fresh files from SMF) but IF. Please come back here with WHAT error you got and we take it from there.
DONT install any other themes, or mods until I say it's clear to do so now ;)
I just ran the "big update" pack for SMF 1.1.1 with no errors. After the update however, the CORE theme is still broken to hell. I think I will do a complete, fresh, reinstall of SMF. Please advise on how I can export / import the tables so I dont lose any data. :)
1, backup the TP-Downloadsfolder if you have any downloads in your site, and the Attachments folder
2. Backup the 2 files in your forum root called settings.php and settings.bak.php
3. REMOVE ALL files from your forum folder
4. Download and extract all the files from the FULL SMF install package to your local machine.
5. Upload ALL the files to your forum folder
6. Upload and overwrite the settings.php and settings.bak.php, tp-downloads and the attachments folder.
Refresh your forum
7. Install TP to your forum now BEFORE you install ANY thing else, no themes, no mods no nothing before you have it working in the default theme.
DO NOT TOUCH THE DB IN ANY WAY !!
A fresh install using the old settings.php file returned the same error. I'm ont he phone with my host.. appparently the database is somehow broken..
WHEN TRYING TO REPAIR THE DB:
UNIQUE and INDEX keys should not both be set for column `ID_TOPIC` UNIQUE and INDEX keys should not both be set for column `ID_MEMBER` More than one INDEX key was created for column `ID_MEMBER`
Please NOTE: I did not modify the DB manually in any way shape or form. Just did a manual install of TP unto a non-modded SMF site.
I've got together with level 3 on my host. We have tried everything. We tried doing a manual table export / import on a fresh install and the settings.php overwrite. Nothing works. This database somehow is broken. Please tell me I can salvage the data.. :( I have a years worth of posts etc.. the damage is phenomenal..
Fixed the issue by duplicating the current theme. Dont ask me why it worked.. I'm still working on this...The JAVA scripts are broken too...Oh man.... I'm ready to bang my head against the all :tickedoff:
UPDATE:
Wiped Server Space, Installed SMF, THen INSTALLED TP, then copied the config files over. Heres what happened: The site looks right, but the JAVA SCRIPTS are broken.. THis is because something inside the database is not right and could VERY WELL BE a TinyPortal Issue.
NOTE: I did NOT touch the DB in ANYWAY. Just like you told me.. I followed your instyructions to a tee. I took this very seriously
How on earth will you get things to work when you dont read the support I give you.
I take it more or less like you arent very interested in the support as you dont follow what i take my time and write to you.
Look up in my last post before this.
DO NOT TOUCH THE DB IN ANY WAY !!
As you refuse over and over again to follow the instructions from me, i stop my support in this thread.
Just so you know, you would have had a working forum a long time ago if you just took the time and read what i wrote to you, and trusted me with that i actually KNOW this.
But now you are free to proceed in your own terms and ways. ;)

I did everything. and NO I DID NOT TOUCH the DB.. Guess what? IT DIDNT WORK. And you're telling me I'm not listening? RIGHT AFTER STEP 6 I NOTICED THE SITE WAS STILL BROKEN. YES I DID EVERYTHING YOU SAID.. After your support didnt work I took the next step to see if I could move the DB over manually, it didnt make anything worse at all so what gives? I did a fresh-reisntall just like you told me. I never touched the DATABASE.. I dont know where you're getting that.
Listen: I GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT and I TAKE IT VERY SERIOUSLY and I haven't a clue what you're talking about. I also have backups (30 of them, daily backups) of the system...
Now its your turn to listen:
I did EVERYTHING YOU SAID.. IT DID NOT WORK. I THEN TRIED A FRESH REINSTALL (do I have to iterate that one? its simple..) and everything WORKED UNTIL I MOVED THE CONFIG FILES OVER (you know what those are right? the settings.php file? Yeah.. That's not a DB IS IT?)
Conclusion:
the DB is SCREWED UP! TP broke it.. I didnt.. I did everything you said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STEP BY STEP!
PS: The manual databse move was done in phpMyAdmin and moved from one backup dfb to another backup db with the original DB INTACT! That's still the one I'm working with!! It was just to move it over since your Idea of moving the php file over did NOT WORK.
No you didnt.
Please read back on what i wrote

And then your reply after you made it to the 6th step.

Again, You should have left the DB alone
YeswI replied after step 6 because I assumed that it should have atleast recognized the CORE but it did not. I then followed through with STEP 7 and the CORE was still broken.
As far as the manual movement I did not touch the DB I made backups and messed with those.. Please do give me a little credit? Sheesh
You're taking me the wrong way and assuming I'm not listening where as I'm doing the best I can. I did everything you said now tell me after step 6 wouldnt the core files look right? And also why is it after step 7 the site behaves just like it did? Obviously your 7 step process didnt work so its time to think of another way to fix this.
I think you took me the wrong way and decided not to help any further and since I tried to repair the DB AFTER your advice didnt work you dont want to help me at all. but I have backups and I am very careful.
You're trying to say "you shouldn't have touched the DB" but thats a cheap way to blame me for it not working right whereas it wasnt working beforehand and I'm using a copy that was not altered at all right now..
I do apologize for fighting with you, this isnt my intent. I just want to fix this and I'm getting very excited about it because to no avail..
One last thing:
I have no Javascript errors at all until I move my prior settings.php and settings.php.bak over to the server. The database they point to was not modified.. again.. please understand that. As soon as I move the settings.php file over the Default Core breaks. What happens is this:
JavaScripts break
All the Default (babylon, classic, default core) themes do NOT work but if I duplicate them I can get the duplicates to work. The Javascripts however remain broken
INSTALLING TP (STEP 7) DOESNT CHANGE ANYTHING
I think this is an indication that the database is screwed up and not SMF nor TP. But how it got screwed up we can speculate. I never touched the Database but ran the TP manual isntall scripts and I think thats where it happened. I dont know for sure.. but I do think this is an issue that will pop up again and possibly a bug that should be fixed. I do programming myself so I can see this is feasible.
Sounds to me like it's the settings.php file that's the problem, then.
You might try running repair_settings.php which you can download from here (http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?tools).

This fixed the problem 100% Thank you so much.. I am so happy that the database was in fact intact, and it was just a settings issue. Again, Thank you for your help.
G6: Thank you for putting in your effort to fix the problem. I do appreciate your help and sorry we got into a dispute.
No dispute, just a discussion ;)
Glad your DB were saved though, all other things you can get back as it was, but the DB is gone if it breaks
Matt, thanks for handle this situation the way you did. Communication is often a probelm on the internet when its so easy to "read into" what you think someone is saying. Glad you got it sorted. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. :)
Indeed the Internet can be a wonderful place :) Thanks for your help guys and I'm happy to have TP delivering content across the weberspace via my site ;)=b!!!
