Post by: snoopy_inc on January 14, 2007, 09:13:12 AM
Hi,

Anyone that can help with this issue would be appriciated.

Basically i upgraded the forum form rc2 to 1.1.  All working fine.  I download latest tp and upload it.  apply the mod and my forum gives me the following error.  (i cant access it unless i change the load.php and subs.php back to original)

error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tp_loadtheme() in /home/html/********/forum/Sources/Load.php on line 1131

PLEASE help me  :-\  :'(

Im moving this to the proper board ( Installations) and a simple search had given you the answer "tp_loadtheme()"

Download the ZIP file from Installationsboard with the premade file in them and replace your Load.php and Subs.php or look for the duplicate code from the install in the files you have there already.

Thanks and soz if i put it in the wrong place :(

Appriciate the help.

So let me see if i got this right.  Look through the code and see what is duplicated and remove that.  or download the zip that you have precompiled and upload it to overwrite subs and load.php?

ahh... well basically this is what happened in a nutshell.

I backed up all files.
Did Web install for SMF
Once web install was finished tp was gone and so were my other mods.
Installed latest version of TP and got that error above.
Fixed it manually for now by using backup subs and load.php.

I will try upload the load and subs.php from the install file i got from g6.  hope that will work.

OK we start over now.  First off, MAKE A COMPLETE BACKUP!! Both of the files and the database.

1. Download the UPDATE pack from SMF and extract the package. upload all of the files to your forum and OVERWIRITE the old ones. make SURE they DO get overwritten.
2. make sure your forum is set to use SMF DEFAULT CORE THEME
3. Make sure your files gets UPLOADED correct when you FTP them, and that they DO overwrite the old ones.

If you use the SMF default Core theme, and you are SURE the files are not broken or break during the transfer.
You have to download the MANUALL install package from the download section.
Extract and upload all the files, Again make sure all files really DO get replaced and that they REPLACE the old ones.
Then upload the files from the ZIP premade files again, and again, make sure the DO get uploaded and that they replace the old ones

Those steps will make sure you have corect files, and versions if you do the steps and have the forum to all defaults.
If you have any other mods installed now, you will end up in adding them back in again, but AFTER you have installed TP first.

ok i will give that a try..... been working on this for the last 15 hours now so ill get to it early next week.

Thanks g6 ill get back to you on progress.

Just a question.... why this such a problem?  I followed instructions exactly when i installed and it installed correctly cause it asked me to restart forum.... as soon as i click on anything else it bombs out and i cant get in unless i alter files manually.

Cant say, but often it has with that the files dont get uploaded correct through FTP if you have the settings wrong in it.
I dont know what FTP program you have, but you can try out the Filezilla, it's a great software and have settings to use auto and it works fine in that.

As far as uploads are concerned.
Upload of TP went fine.... Installation also went fine.... Something else in code caused it to go nuts?

Yes, probably because you have a lot of broken files.
Follow what i said and you will have a working forum

Use the file zilla and do as i said, cause this is not leading anywhere if you dont.

Even if it seems like the files gets uploaded, they may be broken and missing codes in them.

Try the filezilla, follow the steps i wrote.

what you telling me to do is to reinstall from scratch?

If you created a drop table, downloaded a copy of your database, and retained a copy of your attachments file, then everything should come right back up, after you reinstall everything in order.

I uploaded my database after fresh smf 1.1.1 install, then I installed Tp v097 over that, then Mods and themes

No need to get nasty.... i have read all the help about this i can find... and i have been thrown in so many directions its not even funny.  So i am making 100% sure that i know what i am doing before i do it.

Sue me for being careful.  I really do appriciate your help on this g6 and i know i am a newbie at this but we all start somewhere.

Please could you just put my mind at ease and tell me if the other errors are related to the same problem? After that i will follow your instructions.  thanks

Im possitive that your errors comes from broken files yes.

And i havent showed you any other direction but to replace all the files, both SMF and TP and what packages to use and in what order, so as löong as you DONT touch the DB you are both safe and will have a working forum and portal.
But i really DO suggest you use the Filezilla this time, i know that will work and you see directly if any errors during the upload will accure.

If you fail i will personally go in and do it for you.
But first make a backup of the DB theough your Admin or Cpanel. the rest can be replaced, and make sure you just use the update package from SMF.

hrm...... I am confused about database and files.

I know what files mean.... the actual files from the ftp.
The database changes you are talking about... exactly what do you mean by changes.
Because i have made customizations ie changes within the corrupt forum to make it look acceptable.  Would this cause a problem?

If so then i will revert back to the old smf i have and start from scratch.

snoopy, you really need to do one thing at a time. You are concerned with TOO much. The first concern you should have is getting it installed and following G6's steps to do so. Then after that you should deal with any other problems.

It would be good to really be able to see and edit the DB some how.
If you dont have phpmyadmin for your administration of the DB, what do you have ?
Cpanel ? If so you DO have phpmyadmin.

nope
i dont have either.... im using a shared server and the owner set it up.... i have had to rely on oldiesmann before to write some code for me to query the db without having to access it directly. :/

Now what....

BTW i am manually editing the tp code for now to get it to work in a soso fashion. just till we finalise this

You can use the create backup and restore scripts to restore and backup your database. Located here:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=18350.msg168327#msg168327

If you have a backup of your files and database you really have nothing to worry about.
