Title: Time Zones
Post by: brianjw on January 12, 2007, 04:07:04 PM
I am having a hard time with the time zones on my site :o
I created a test post just now and it says:
Ã,« on: Today at 09:04:59 AM Ã,»
when my time is 11:05 AM

-Where can I change the settings for the time zones on smf?

-What should I enter in the time zone for US Eastern?

(I also need help with the nneono's shoutbox mod timezone but I will go to smf because I know I will get directed there for this one ;))

The default time zone for SMF is wherever your server is. Looks like your server is in the Mountain Time Zone.

Each member of any SMF forum can set the offset so that the time displays correctly. Go to Profile > Look and Layout Preferences and look for Time Offset. Try clicking the "Auto Detect" button. It will often put the right value in the field. Sometimes you will have to put a minus sign in front of it. Work with it until it's right.

Not without doing a lot of programming and it would be very annoying if your members couldn't change the time to their own time zones.

You can tell them. That's part of what being a site admin is about. Point out those little features to your members.

You can set the offest for the time for all members in Admin > Features and Options.
